Room 10 News

September 19th, 2016

This week in math we will be continuing our addition and subtraction unit. Students will be taught the traditional method of adding and subtracting, but may choose to work it out left to right if that is easier for them.

The big focus this week will be subtracting three digit numbers and subtracting across zeros.

Please let me know if you would like extra practice sent home for your child!

We have been working on retelling stories we have read in class and stories that the students have read during read to self time. In our retells students are to include: important characters, setting, main events from the text, and vocabulary that is used in the text.

Once students have gotten some more practice they will be assessed on making predictions using evidence and retelling.

We are almost finished with our First 20 Days of writing unit! After completing this, we will spend a few days on reviewing how to write a complete sentence and how to fix our run on sentences. Then, it's time to begin our Narrative unit!

Social Studies:

Since ending our federal government unit we have been taking our September Evaluate test in reading and math. We tracked our percentages and are excited to see our growth each month!

We will begin discussing the state government this week.
