Englewood schools safety & health protocols effective immediately
Effective immediately, as employees begin to report to work at school and department sites during the COVID-19 pandemic, Englewood Schools will be instituting and/or continuing the following safety and health protocols until further notice. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to these protocols. As expectations around returning to work and social interaction change, we will update protocols accordingly. If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor for clarification and/or additional direction.
Daily temperature checks
ALL employees are expected to take their temperatures each day prior to beginning their work day.
Employees may take their temperatures at home prior to reporting to work. They will be expected to complete the Colorado Department of Public Health tracking sheet which will be available at each site (supervisors will communicate the location of this document).
Thermoscan thermometers will be available for employee use at RDAB and Duell if an employee does not have a thermometer at home.
In cases such as teacher/staff classroom pick up, thermometers will be available for use as staff enters their school building.
In cases where visitors (students/parents) enter a school building, a temperature check station should be set up and manned at all times while students/visitors are in the building.
Mask wearing in public areas by employees and visitors
While in school or district buildings, employees must wear masks. While in classrooms or at workstations, employees may choose to not wear their masks if they are alone. In hallways, visits to restrooms, and any other area in which they might encounter someone else, they must wear a mask.
Visitors must wear masks at all times in all areas and are only to be in buildings for the amount of time needed to complete their business.
Masks must cover the mouth and nose of the wearer and not be pulled down or positioned below the nose.
Employees/Students only in school and district sites
Family members of employees and/or students who are accessing school or district sites must remain outside of the buildings. Once the work day or need for access is complete, there is to be no lingering in buildings or on school property.
Illness reporting to supervisors
Employees who have returned to in-person work in any way must inform their direct supervisors of any COVID-19 related symptoms, diagnosis or contact with a person who has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Decisions with regard to next steps when an employee has been in contact but does not have symptoms will be made in consultation between the employee, the supervisor, and Human Resources.
Open Door Policy
When possible, please prop open all doors in a work area to minimize the need for people to touch handles and other door hardware.
Workstation Wipedowns
Employees working at a desk or workstation should wipedown their work area/work station with a disinfecting wipe both upon arrival at the beginning of the day and upon departure at the end of the day. Wipes will be provided.
One entrance/exit from work sites
Supervisors should designate one entrance/one exit from every work site that ALL employees at that site should use. This provides for one area in which to set up for temperature taking and/or completing the CDHPE documentation prior to beginning their workday.
Your to do list from Angel.....
TEC staff~
Please help us prepare for the summer cleaning and detail of the building. I am asking the following to be done in your teaching spaces and or offices, I will do my best to stop by your individual rooms as I see you for any removal of posters. This year we may not have time to do as many rooms as we did last year being that I don't have Mike doing the usual things he does in the summer. I do know of a few rooms that will need posters removed, again I will let you know as I see you.
Classrooms-
Please remove all stuff on the AV station and place in your cabinet below.
Clear off counter/cabinet spaces as much as possible and store what can be stored inside. Clear off mobile desks and store what can be stored inside a cabinet or a small box if you can. Remove all items taped to doors, glass and any items students may have hung for you or you may have hung in the halls for upcoming events/projects. Some walls may be painted over summer. Anything on a tack board is fine. Remove any loose items on the floors-box's, rulers, stack of papers etc. and put on the counter if you have to so we can scrub or extract the floors.
Science labs-
Please clear island and both counters along the sides of your room best you can.
Prep area to the rear of science rooms please clear the counter if at all possible placing anything that will fit in cabinets and on the shelfs.
Stem-
If you can clear student work benches we will vacuum around what we can.
Band-
Please have all instruments on carts or what ever fits in the practice rooms is fine. This will make it easy on us when we extract.
Small offices-
Please place whatever is possible in your drawers and cabinets.
Refrigerators throughout the building-
Please toss whatever looks yucky old or out of date and take all your tupperware home with food. If I come across what is smelly/moldy and or needs to go, I will trash. I will try and do my best to get to the lounge and both office refrigerators and clean them.
Last but not least I want to thank everyone for an amazing year. This was another long one, me and the crew really appreciate and thank you thank you thank you for pitching in to help us run through these spaces, we have a lot of building to cover each summer and it ain't easy. Please email me if you have questions and I will do my best to answer or stop by your room provided location. I understand you don't have much time so don't feel pressured in any way.
THANKS, Have a great summer
-Angel

Grading Reminders...
As we wind down this quarter, and with our new end date of May 15th, we want to be focused on how our final grading practices will play out.
Consider that we have two more weeks of instruction, followed by a week of bonus time--make up work, enrichment time, extra credit, re-do opportunities, and team-building fun.
Last day of instruction (official District date)--May 15th.
All grades due on IC (official District time/date)--May 18th by 3 pm.
Plan your work so that you do not have to do any grading on the weekend of May 15th. You will have the entire day on May 18th for grading and entering final grades.
You will need to manually change Ds and Fs to P-Pass in the final grade (when the grading window opens). You can also choose to change any letter grades--even if it doesn't match with the percentage...for example, if you have a student sitting at a 78% but you feel he/she should earn a B, you can change that manually.
For students who have done some work this quarter, they should receive a letter grade (C, B, A). For students who haven't logged in at all during quarter 4, they will receive a P.
This is not the time to fight grading battles or rely on "typical" principles of grading practice. Students should earn a grade that is commensurate with their grades in previous quarters.
For example, for a student who has participated in at least some remote learning, if he/she earned C quarter one, B quarter two, B quarter three...then his/her quarter 4 grade should be a B or higher (this is relying on body of evidence rather than strictly work ethic during remote learning time).
When in doubt, round up.
If you have a student with a major regression in grades (a student who normally earns a B is now at a C or below), then we need to talk through the final grade together before it is posted. Please reach out to support team members--other teachers, case managers, counselors, admin in order to talk through this.
If you have students who have been "attending" but not doing any work, please reach out to their parents--phone call is best. Let them know what the "short list" of mandatory assignments might be for their student to earn a C or better.
Lastly, consider avoiding zeroes and M--missing in these last few weeks. Anxiety is high for all--parents and students included. If a student has not turned something in, leave it blank, and reach out to the student and parent.
Currently, Wellspring Englewood is offering a food pantry on Sundays from 11:30am-1pm and Wednesdays 3pm-5pm. This serves both folks experiencing homelessness and families in the Englewood community in need of groceries. It is open to anyone who is experiencing food insecurity right now.
We have set drop off times Monday to Thursday from 9am-2pm. We are accepting both perishable and non-perishable foods. The address is 4300 S Lincoln St. Englewood, CO 80113, and there are bins outside to drop off food to ensure we're keeping proper social distancing. Here are a few items that are in need right now:
- Milk and dairy products
- Cereals
- Fresh meats
- Bread
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Fruits and vegetables (fresh or canned)
- Pasta and pasta sauce
- Canned soups
- Pet food for dogs and cats
- Personal protective equipment to protect our staff and volunteers as they hand out food
Tri-Cities Response
Organizations and churches across Englewood, Littleton, and Sheridan have banded together to love our neighbors by meeting their needs. If you are elderly, or have lung disease, heart disease or compromised immune systems, then you are particularly susceptible to negative outcomes from Covid-19. We want to help keep you safe by delivering groceries or providing other critical resources.
VOLUNTEERING EFFORTS
1. You can donate blood by scheduling with Vitalant.org.
2. Help locally by donating grocery gift cards or volunteering to shop/deliver food for shut ins with www.littletonfamilyservices.org.
3. You can support other efforts in your neighborhood by signing up at helpcoloradonow.org. They list all sorts of ways to support those in need throughout our metro area and state.
ENGLEWOOD SCHOOLS MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES
This can be a stressful and scary time for everyone. Feeling prepared and knowing what you can do to help you and your family stay well are some ways to help minimize stress. This resource for parents/caregivers provides ways for families to prepare as well as how to help children from different age groups cope with what is going on. If you think you are having symptoms of COVID-19, please follow these guidelines from CDC. These resources from Tri-County health can also help you stay informed and reduce the risk of spreading or catching COVID-19. Additional mental health and food resources can be accessed here.
As a reminder, Safe2Tell is a resource students can access right away if they have worries or concerns about themselves or a friend.
COVID-19 Student and Family Reporting Line
If you or a member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms or has a confirmed diagnosis, please contact your healthcare provider and then let us know by calling 303-806-6881. Your information will not be shared; however a nurse will follow-up with you to gather information that will help us keep our community safe.
