A Year to Remember!

As we approach the end of our most unique school year yet, we want to send our highest appreciation and sincere thanks to the many supporters of the Encinitas Union School District & Community. Together, the accomplishments and efforts this year have been exceptional in the most extraordinary of times!

The success of the #Be Strong / #Se Fuerte Campaign:

Twelve weeks ago, the EEF, EUSD and PTAs across all 9 school sites came together to coordinate a fundraising effort to assist our most vulnerable EUSD families during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, over 500 EUSD students and their families are experiencing food insecurity and are receiving hot lunches and breakfasts from EUSD at Ocean Knoll Elementary on Mondays and Wednesdays.

To date, TOGETHER, we have given out over 5,000 Bags of Food, 1300 Smart & Final Gift Cards, and 1,900 loaves of bread. In total, over $93,000 was raised! We are grateful for the strong partnerships we have built during this time with Smart & Final, Flippin Pizza - Encinitas, Jersey Mikes, Menchies - La Costa, Yummy Cupcakes, Davis Sales Inc, along with multiple other businesses who have come forth to support our vulnerable families. Through these efforts, we continue to be awestruck at the compassion and cooperative spirit of this amazing community.

Thank you to the EEF #BE STRONG / #SE FUERTE Board Members!

Los Angelitos de Encinitas (The Little Angels) is a nonprofit public charity. Funds raised are for the benefit of economically disadvantaged youth in our community. As a result of shifting shifting their efforts to helping provide food security to this segment of our community, the fundraising focusing on food assistance has been received and supported unlike anything they have seen since its inception in 2008. Los Angelitos has and will continue to provide hundreds of grocery cards throughout the summer months for use at Smart & Final and Von’s grocery stores in Encinitas.

"Bags of Love" Donation Drop Off Program At Ocean Knoll Elementary School

With support from administrators and staff members from across the District, "Bags of Love" Donation program successfully served over 500 bags of groceries, produce, and essential non-perishable items each week since the start of the pandemic. A special mention to EUSD Principals Jennifer Bond and Christie Kay from Ocean Knoll and La Costa Elementary Schools, respectively, for their leadership in overseeing this program.

Thanks to Venture Church, the food drive will continue to support the program for our families in need after the school year ends for the summer.
