Room 309 News
Week of May 2 and May 9
Weekly Thoughts......
We have had some busy weeks! So busy it has been hard to keep up! Sadly we are getting close to the end of the school year. We even have started a count down. As of today we have 20 days left! I can't believe they are almost 2nd graders.
Math
In math we just finished our Unit 7 on Time and Shapes. We will begin our last chapter next week. Chapter 8 has us learning about double digit addition. We will also do our final MAPS test of the year in math.
Readers Workshop
This week we were lucky and had a visit from Mrs. Wilson during our workshop time. This week we began looking at Main Characters in stories. We also learned that it is important to pay attention to other characters in stories. The characters in the story help us learn more about the main characters.
Writing
Poetry has been so much fun! The children have learned how to write many types of poems. They can write; list poems, subject poems, place poems, I Remember poems, Acrostic poems, color poems, -ing poems, question poems and buddy poems. Ask your child to write you a poem!
