Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Every morning, announcements begin with the Song of the Week chosen by our Music Teacher, Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson. Each day, different facts about the singer are shared before beginning the pledges. Listen to the song with your child and ask him/her what they remember about the singer. If they don't remember, give them the task to remember one fact they hear the following day. Having daily conversations with your child about their school day can help nurture trust and social-emotional skills.
From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
This week, we had a four day week with daily reminders of the importance and goodness that comes from being Drug Free! We collected commitment slips for chocolate sales, and we finished with an in-service day for all our staff.
Our students began their bi-weekly social-emotional learning lessons with our new counselor, Mrs. Rowe. We are grateful to have her as a part of our Rio Hondo Elementary community! We know our students will benefit greatly from all she has to offer!
This coming Wednesday, progress reports will go out. Please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions. This week we will also have visitors come to our campus from Region One with a project they have to determine effective practices that districts implement. Them, along with central office and campus administrators will go into the classrooms of select teachers. Shoutout to our teachers for welcoming the opportunity!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! We'll see you back on Monday, bright and early at school before 8:00am.
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas

We missed a lot of our students this week! With only 94% attendance it means that we are not able to provide the instruction as planned to 6% of our students. That is a total of about 35 students, and we care about all of them. Parents, please bring them to school every day.
