Lockport City School District
COVID-19 Update
March 20, 2021
This message is to provide an update on the status of the COVID-19 hybrid in-person instructional model in the Lockport City School District.
On Friday, March 19, 2021, the CDC announced updated guidance pertaining to schools. School districts continue to anxiously await for an update from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) to the guidance which districts have been operating under since July 2020, or new interpretation of existing guidance that would allow the Lockport City School District to bring students to school more often for in-person learning. As of the date of this message, the District has not received any new guidance or new interpretation of existing guidance from NYSDOH.
As a result, the District will be adhering to the most current New York State Department of Health guidance which states 6 feet for social distancing. If there is a change to this distance, the District is committed to re-examining our instructional models. In the meantime, the District is in the process of developing a survey which will be sent to parents to complete. The survey results will help the District to plan accordingly should there be any change to the current NYSDOH guidance.
The safety of all people is of most importance. The District will continue to provide information related to any new developments. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Please remember to wear a face covering, wash your hands frequently, practice social distancing, and monitor your health regularly.
