Huston-Tillotson University International Alumni Association
February 2016
President's Corner
Greetings!
2016 is off to a great start, as always I am grateful for your continued support of our association. We are now entering the season of Homecoming! It’s time for us to return to Austin and connect with friends both new and old. This year’s homecoming should be one in which plenty memories are made. From a Friday night event that is sure to excite to tailgating on campus, basketball games against Wiley College, and the official Saturday evening event at the Holiday Inn-Midtown. Hospitality suite will tentatively be open on Friday from 11pm to 1am and on Saturday from 7-9pm will be closed during the time of the alumni after party and tentatively will reopen from 12:30-2am The Homecoming Committee is asking if you are unable to attend this year that you still send a donation. Be mindful that during Homecoming weekend there will also be the African American Heritage Festival as well as University Day for high school students, please plan accordingly.
The time has come to recognize alumni for their contributions, nominations for this years awards that will be presented during Reunion Weekend (May 6-8) are due by April 1, 2016. The awards categories for this year are: Academic Achievement, Alumni Service, Chapter of the Year, Non-Alumnus- Golden Leaf, Outstanding Alumnus, Practical Endeavor, Young Alum. We are looking forward to having Dallas area alumni take home many of these honors.
Lastly I am asking that you please encourage friends and alumni that are not active to consider joining our association. We all know there is strength in numbers and we will need to stand tall in the days to come. The impact that Huston-Tillotson has had on our lives is undeniable and it is my plea that we give back with our time, talents, and resources. Thank you for your support in this effort to grow our network and strengthen our community.

AN INSPIRATIONAL WORD
Re-Set! We are blessed to see another NEW YEAR! Let’s “re-set” for this year and renew our efforts to be better this year than last year! Re-set and look at our giving, realizing that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). Re-set by praying unceasingly (1Thess. 5:17). Pray for HT this year, pray about its new leadership, Dr. Collette Pierce Burnett, pray for the faculty, staff and students, and pray about “re-setting” your financial commitment. Alumni support is crucial because our gifts help HT to continue lifting up and educating youth - whether they come from Dallas, from Texas, or from all over world. Re-Set for 2016!
University Day
