The Time is NOW!

Create a vision board and develop an action plan with your children. Talk to them about their passions and interests and how they are working towards their dreams. Teach them how to prioritize, and encourage them to take positive and purposeful action toward their dreams. Sometimes, small steps can make the biggest difference, simply by taking action. It’s okay to plan, but while many people wait for the perfect plan or moment in time before they act, the happiest and most successful individuals take action all the time… even (and especially) when their plans aren’t perfect. The Time is Now!

Field Day 2015

Everyone had a great time today at our Mashburn Field Day. We want to say a huge THANK YOU to Coach Carlson, Ms. Schmitt and all the other amazing staff members who helped to make this day possible (we even had a special guest appearance by Mrs. Niemira!), and to our fabulous parent volunteers who helped to man stations-we could not do this event without you! THANK YOU to Mashburn PTA for providing lunch for our staff members and volunteers-truly, TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER! Check out this slideshow of today's fun...

From Mrs. Smith

With spring approaching, we naturally think of new beginnings. As educators, springtime signifies the beginning of our planning for the next school year. Mrs. Swaim and I are busy organizing our wonderfully talented educators at Mashburn for the 2015-2016 school year. As parents, this time of year prompts us to think of our children moving to a new grade level and class placement. I can assure you that a great deal of thought and effort will go into the process of forming new classes for next year. Each student will be placed into an instructional group with input from a variety of sources.

While the process we use is comprehensive, we also value your input regarding your child’s needs. Specific individual teacher requests will not be accepted. Sibling requests may be made but are not guaranteed. If you have information you would like to share, please be sure to make your requests based on educational factors unique to your child’s needs and these will certainly be considered as we make our final decisions.

This year we are going high-tech with a survey system. Please complete the following link. http://goo.gl/forms/dizePwQ0IM

Thank you for teaming with us to create an amazing 2015-16!

2015-16 PTA Committees

Even though this school year still has a few weeks left, PTA is hard at work planning for next year. Here's a list of committees that need co-coordinators (okay, chairs, but coordinator doesn't sound as scary), committee members, or just some general help here and there.
Membership* Hospitality Yearbook* Birthday Marquee* Room Parents*

Watch DogDADS Reflections Blue Bear Committee 5K* Honoring Our Heroes

Fundraising * Mother-Son 5th Grade Committee* Talent Show

*These are great opportunities for WOHMs [Work Outside the Home Moms - or dads].

We may have missed one or two committees by accident, so if there's something you want to help out with, just let us know. To get involved, or ask questions, send an email to: vpcommunications@mashburnpta.org. You can also check out our Facebook page - MashburnElementaryPTA, [you don't have to be a Facebook member to see this page] where we have a good discussion going about these committees.

Thanks for your support of the PTA. Remember our motto: Every child, one voice!

Meal Charges

Our automated system will not allow further negative meal charges to student accounts after May 1, 2015. Students without funds will be offered a courtesy meal of a Cheese Sandwich and milk. To ensure your child can continue to enjoy school meals or to clear your students’ account of any negative balances, please send a payment (cash or check) to the school or visit www.MyPaymentsPlus.com, to make a payment on line, you will need your child’s student I.D. number. This website is a convenient way to make payments and monitor your child’s account balance. Please check account balances to determine the funds needed for meals for the remainder of this school year (breakfast is 1.25 and lunch is 2.25). Money on customer accounts will carry forward to next school year. Remember to note your child’s Student ID on your check. or to include it with cash in an envelope. We accept Free and Reduced Applications each school day.

New Check-In System

The Board of Education has rolled out a new sign-in system throughout the county called RAPTOR. In order to ensure the safety and well being of our students and staff we will need to scan your drivers license again so please be sure to bring it with you when you come to school. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we roll out the new system.

5th Grade Memory Lane...

Do you have a favorite Mashburn memory? Was it when you met your best friend or was it a special time in class that you remember? We will be highlighting these memories during our fifth grade celebration on May 22nd. If your fifth grader has a special memory that he/she would like shared please write a few sentences describing this memory and bring it to Mrs. Hill in the media center.
