We are Learning...
Math: We will continue our study on MONEY! Next up we will start our unit on measurement. Students will be measuring objects using nonstandard and standards units of measure.
Writing: We will continue our nonfiction writing unit. Students will write informative/explanatory text in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section. Students will be taking notes from different resources as they research and gather information for their book.
Science: We will continue our plant and animal lifecycle unit as our baby chick eggs have arrived and are due to hatch this Wednesday! We will keep them until the beginning of next week!! Then we will begin our new unit on Engineering. Students will be asked to think like scientists in order to design a tool that meets a specific need. The materials for the tool must be reusable so they will use 21st century skills (collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking) to create innovative uses for previously used materials and objects.
