Joseph Proust was a famous scientist who is best known for his discovery of the law of constant composition.
Biography
Joseph Proust was born on September 26, 1754 in Angers, France. Proust studied chemistry in his father's apothecary shop andoater became the apothecary in chief to the Salpetriere. He taught Chemistry at the University of Salamanca in Spain but, Napolean's army burned his lab sending Proust back to France. From a contreversy with C.L. Berthollet, who thought that substance do not always combine in constant, Proust proved him wrong leading to a scientific discovery.
Law of Constant Composition
The law of constant composition says that, in any particular chemical compound, all samples of that compound will be made up of the same elements in the same proportion or ratio.
