The Crossing
June 22, 2020
It is hard to believe that we've come to June 22nd, the last day of school. I am so proud of our Brooks Crossing community. We've pivoted and adapted to an entirely new form of learning. Even our youngest students have become adept at using technology that we didn't know they were capable of using. No matter what school looks like in the fall, these new skills will enhance the learning experience of all of our students.
Parents, we could not have made these changes to how teaching and learning happened without you. Thank you for your unending support. Your child(ren) are so lucky to have you!
I wish you a safe, healthy, and relaxing summer.
Be Well,
Jaime Maccarone

A Note from Mrs. Patrych - Turning Lemons into Lemonade
It goes without saying that we are certainly living in challenging times. Being apart from one another has made things even more difficult since, as we know, children and grown ups alike thrive on both physical and social connection. We need to remember though that staying home comes from a place of love: it is our way of taking care of ourselves, our families and our community right now.
During these last few months of remote learning, we have had time to reflect on what we, as school counselors, can share with you that might be useful and supportive. After all, parents and guardians, your job has become that much more challenging; having to add “Teacher” to your resumes was not what you had ever planned for! With this in mind, we’ve put together a South Brunswick Mini-Parent Academy Presentation, that focuses on research from the field of positive psychology and the science of well-being. Our hope is that it will serve to remind you of the value in “finding silver linings even in the darkest of days.” We invite you to watch it, share it with others, and hope that you will enjoy the snippets of positivity being sent from our homes to yours!

Participate in South Brunswick's District-wide Clap Out
We would also like to recognize our 5th, 8th, and 12th graders with a Districtwide “Clap Out" as they reach these milestones. This “Clap Out” will be held on June 22nd at 8:00 PM.
At 8:00 PM that evening, we are asking the entire community to go outside and make some noise for these students!! Cheer, bang some pots, beep horns, clap loudly, etc. to show these
students how proud we all are of their accomplishments.
