Seeking Applicants
The TDOE is seeking applications from educators, higher education partners, parents, and community members to participate in subject and grade-level committees to determine the cut score ranges for each performance level on state assessments. Ultimately, this information helps them understand students' level of mastery of the state standards. This is called the “standards setting" process. The standards setting committees will meet this summer and share recommendations with the State Board of Education for approval.
They are seeking applicants for the following standards setting committees:
- Math Grades 3–5
- Math Grades 6–8
- Math Algebra 1 and Algebra 2
- Math Geometry
- Math Integrated Mathematics 1, 2, and 3
- ELA Grades 3–5
- ELA Grades 6–8
- ELA Grades 9–12
- Social Studies 3–5
- Social Studies 6–7
- Social Studies Grades 8 & U.S. History
All interested applicants should complete an online application (here) by April 25, 5 p.m. CDT. The application link, along with a brief description of the responsibilities and time commitment for the committees, is posted on the website (here). All applicants will be notified of his/her status by no later than May 6.

Warrior Football 2016-2017
Students interested in playing football next year for JSMS should see Coach Guthrie for information regarding workouts and spring tryouts. Information will be available starting Monday, April 4th. The first day of conditioning will be on Thursday, April 7th. the rest of the information will be distributed after the student meeting with Coach Guthrie.

Kingsport's Interactive School Zone Map
Kingsport now has an interactive website in which you can type an address and determine school zone. You can access this map from a link on the KCS website, Parents, School Zones / Street Directories or click here.
Once on the interactive page, click on the magnifying glass and type in the address in question. If the address is a city location, the site will zoom to the location and identify the corresponding school zone. If nothing happens, the address is NOT in the city of Kingsport.

Immunizations!
IMMUNIZATIONS-TO PARENTS OF RISING 7TH GRADERS: All students entering 7th grade must have immunizations recorded on a new TN Certificate of Immunization (shot form).Students may not begin school without having received their immunizations. Students need the Tdap (tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis) boosters and two doses of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or history of disease (year diagnosed).
Warrior Weekly Update:
April 11th-April 15—High School Planning Appointments for rising 9th Graders—All families of rising 9th graders should have gotten a letter in the main from Dobyns-Bennett providing you with a time for your high school planning appointment. These meetings will take place at Sevier in the library. Please arrive five minutes prior to your assigned time and check in at the JSMS front office. We will call your child to the library to join you for your high school planning appointment with the DB counselor.
