An UPDATE from Vice Chancellor Michael Bruno about the UH Cancer Center Director Search
I wanted to let all of you know where we stand with the Director search. As you may recall, once the decision was made as to who the top candidate was, a second visit would be in order to invite him back to obtain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities at UHCC, as well as to meet with other constituents. Therefore, this is to inform you that the Chancellor and I, in consultation with the search advisory committee and with input from the community, have deemed Dr. Randall Holcombe as the top candidate, and have invited him and his wife for a second visit to meet Legislators, President Lassner, as well as UHCC programs in their respective groups.
The evaluations we received from UHCC, JABSOM, and the community (which included hospital administrators and Friends of CC) had Dr. Randall Holcombe as the top candidate, and all with strong support. We have therefore invited Dr. Holcombe who I am happy to share is excited to return with his wife, Connie, for a second visit.
Dr. Holcombe is scheduled to visit May 5-8, 2016; this second visit will focus on defined groups/persons in order for Dr. Holcombe to familiarize himself with the external persons, as well as the island itself. His schedule is attached for your information.
Please join the Chancellor and I in welcoming back Dr. Holcombe and his wife to UHCC and Hawaii, with the warmth and hospitality of the Aloha spirit that is second to none!

Please join us in the JABSOM lobby on Thursday, May 5th from 4:30 to 6pm for this community event. Light refreshments will be served, RSVP to Tiffnie Kakalia if you are planning to attend.
