Dear Lincoln Parents and Guardians,

Earlier this week, Mark Fijor, Director of Technology in District 57, emailed an important invitation to district families, and I hope you found a few moments to read that email. Technology, as we all know, is climbing the ladder to be one of the most vital tools in education. I encourage Lincoln parents to join in the webinar on February 10 at 7pm. Middle school students are at the early stages of managing the responsibility and maturity that comes along with the privilege of having access to software programs, the internet, and social media, and we are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to our families. Last week, Lincoln wrapped up our winter session of MAP testing for the entire student body. The MAP test allows us to monitor student growth, identify students who need additional support (through either intervention or our classroom support and organization class - CSO), and to identify areas for teachers to focus their instruction. We administer MAP testing three times during the school year, Fall, Winter, and Spring, and review the results at our quarterly Data Day meetings. It is important that we continue with this standardized testing so that we can measure student progress throughout the year. Being able to gather and review test data is key in keeping our students on track and successful while at Lincoln. We appreciate your support in this process.

Although there is plenty of snow on the ground, we are already planning for our Summer Band and Orchestra program! In the past this program was offered to our musicians during the first few weeks of August. This year, the program will shift to the last few weeks of June (at the beginning of summer). More information will follow from Mr. Acuna, Band Director, and Ms. Prodan, Orchestra Director, but I want to make sure that parents make a note on their calendars!

I would be remiss to not take this opportunity to acknowledge our custodial staff for the extra hours and hard work they put in for snow removal this week. Eric, Ken, Andy, Gary, Rito, and Eddie work hard to keep our grounds plowed, shoveled, and salted, keeping the parking lots and sidewalks clean and safe during the winter months. Thank you for your commitment to the safety of our staff, guests, and students.

The following guidelines are in place so that families can attend athletics events at Lincoln:

  • All spectators are to be masked for the duration of their time in the building.
  • Only family members of players/performers will be admitted as spectators.
  • There is no "student section."
  • Siblings of athletes must sit with their parents.
  • Due to limited capacity in our stands, we want to prioritize our limited space for families of athletes.
  • This policy is consistent with all schools in the MSMSAC athletic conference.

Adherence to these guidelines is mandatory so that Lincoln can participate in and host athletic events as a member of the Mid-Suburban Middle School Athletic Conference during the Covid-19 pandemic. Thank you for your cooperation.


The PTO has been hard at work this winter planning new and exciting activities to keep students and families engaged through the cold weather.

Kindness Week Fundraiser - The PTO is excited to announce our first-ever "Random Acts of Kindness Week" Fundraiser Feb 14-18. This is a completely NEW event where students pledge to complete Random Acts of Kindness (ROAK) and ask their families and relatives to "sponsor" them for completing these kind acts. The PTO gets part of the proceeds and students that receive ANY amount of donation will be entered into a raffle for prizes! Please see the attached flyer for more information and learn how to sign-up your student to participate!

NEW CLUB - Chess Club! The PTO is excited to present our first PTO-sponsored after-school club - CHESS CLUB! Please see the attached flyer for more information and sign-up information. All grades and skill-levels welcome!

February Dine-and-Share - Le Peep - Don't forget to join us tomorrow - Saturday, February 5 at Le Peep Mount Prospect. 25% of your bill will be donated back to the PTO. See attached flyer for details.

February PTO Meeting: Join us next Tuesday, February 8 at 7pm for our monthly PTO meeting. All parents are welcome - learn more about the different activities we are planning or bring a new idea to share with our group!

Arts, Athletics, and Activities Night--Feb 17 (6-7:30pm)

Students will meet coaches, directors, and sponsors from various groups to learn more about the comprehensive high school experience and opportunities available to them outside the classroom.
