Dear Families of Deerfield,


We had a great week of learning together at Deerfield. The highlight for me was seeing all of our friends who were able to come out and have their picture taken on Wednesday. What a wonderful opportunity to interact, however briefly, with our students in that venue. Thanks to everyone who made the day a success, including our awesome staff and parents. A special thanks also, to those who committed to supporting the Stach family in their time of need, by purchasing masks and t-shirts. Positivity Project Weekly Theme: Forgiveness

This week's theme is forgiveness. Forgiveness is a conscious decision to release your feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person/group who has harmed you, regardless of whether or not they deserve your forgiveness.

On Wednesday, October 21st at 1:00pm we are inviting families to take a walk through your neighborhood for breast cancer awareness. Help the cause, wear pink or the pink ribbon from our most recent supply pick-up.

Literacy Activity Calendar

Are you looking for fun ways to promote literacy with your kids? Jessica Guerra, an Avondale k-3 literacy coach, has made this fun calendar below to provide literacy activities that you can do with your children.

Cub Scout Recruitment Event

If you are interested in cub scouts, please join them at Avondale Middle School on October 25th at 1:00pm to find out all the fun activities that your child can participate in.

We are fortunate at Deerfield to have a very active PTO group, which provides many of the enrichment activities that our students enjoy. Please consider joining our PTO for their meetings this school year. All meeting dates for this year will be 7:00 PM. Unfortunately, child care will not be available for PTO meetings this school year due to safety concerns, but Zoom links will be provided for those that wish to attend virtually.

AMS HAUNTED CRUISE - OCTOBER 30!

Save the date for the Avondale Middle School Haunted Cruise! On Friday, October 30th. The Parking Lot of AMS will be decorated with tents and car trunks for children ages preschool through 8th grade to dress up in their favorite costume and trick-or-treat from their cars! Tickets cost $10 per vehicle and will be available to purchase online. There will also be a Basket Raffle. The event runs from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM. Families must remain in their car as they drive the students through the trick or treating area. The tents and trunks will be socially distancing with masks on and will deliver candy touchless to the children in the car. Cash only(exact change) for the basket raffles. $1.00 for 1 ticket, $5.00 for 7 tickets or $10.00 for 15 tickets. Winners will be announced at 9:00 pm through Zoom (link will be provided night of). Chartwells Food Distribution

Chartwells will be distributing breakfasts and lunches for children to ANY family that wishes to receive them every Monday and Wednesday (until schools resumes in-person instruction). Your children do NOT need to be present, and your children do NOT need to be enrolled in the Avondale School District to receive food. Please pull into the bus loop at Avondale High School, Avondale Middle School from 9am-12pm, or Deerfield Elementary from 6-8 pm, to receive one box per child.

Blessings In A Backpack

Blessings in a Backpack provides simple meals at NO COST each week during the school year for families who need assistance. While Avondale Schools is conducting remote learning, meals will be disbursed in conjunction with the Chartwells Food Service Breakfast and Lunch distributions.
