ILT Update
We began our Unit of Study on Ensuring High Quality Support for Teachers and used the information you provided to us, from the Survey on Support, to determine how we can ensure impact on student learning through strengthening our organizational structures, relationships, and expertise to provide quality support to each of you. In the following weeks, we will be working on learning four coaching techniques: Whisper Coaching, Parallel Coaching, Virtual Coaching, and Strategic Coaching. These techniques will strengthen the quality of support provided to each of you to directly impact student learning.
Public Meetings
Goshen Community Schools will be hosting three public meetings to further explain the Strategic Planning Facilities Committee recommendation to the school board. Their recommendation was to proceed with building a new 5-8 Intermediate School on the school-owned property at SR 119 and Greene Road, and to convert the current Goshen Middle School to a 5-8 Intermediate School as well.
Please plan to attend one of the meetings listed below to learn more about the rationale that led to this recommendation and to give your input. There will be table group discussions held following the presentation in order to receive feedback from the public.
Meetings will be held at these locations and times:
Thursday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m. at the Model Cafeteria
Monday, December 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the Goshen High School Cafeteria

Once again United Way is doing a Coat Drive to benefit students in our community. (Flyer attached.) The Coat Drive runs from Nov. 9 to Dec. 4. In the past, GCS students have benefited from the coat drive and so we ask for your assistance. You may post/distribute the flyer and someone from United Way will be dropping off a Coat Collection Box(es) to the schools early next week. Thanks for your help!
Matthew Hatfield from Hatfield Insurance is coming to do a presentation about Medicare. The information would be helpful for employees, their spouses, their parents, etc. Any one is welcome to attend. The attached flyer has the date, time and place.
Hello, Education Leaders!
In preparation for the next Certification or Master of Science, Educational Leadership cohort, we have scheduled an Educational Leadership information session for next week, Tuesday, November 7th at 4:00 pm (Eastern) in the Education and Arts Building, Room 2112. There are spots available for area teachers that may be interested in becoming building administrators.
The Chair of the Professional Education Services Department, Dr. Terri Hebert, will be present to offer information and answer questions about the Educational Leadership program of study.
Master of Science in Educational Leadership
Also, Dr. Hebert and I are happy to offer an on-site information session in your corporation for interested teachers that are unable to travel to the IU South Bend campus. I have attached the schedule of all of our graduate studies info sessions for your reference.
Feel free to contact me at any time with questions, requests for an on-site information meeting or if you would like us to hold a spot for any teachers that you might identify as promising future education leaders.
Thank you for your help in distributing this information to your principals.
Sincerely,
Judy
