ALERT! We Are Hosting Community Meeting Tomorrow!
Ms. Katie looked at the wrong calendar and messed up our community meeting hosting date! Turns out, we are up tomorrow! Sincere apologies for the late notice. We will be hosting on the Green at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Students were able to rehearse today and have a short line to practice as part of their homework tonight. The lovely ladies of 302 will also perform a short poem for International Women's Day!
Expedition Launch!
We had a blast launching our Spring Expedition on the Anacostia Watershed. Students traveled to observe the river, watched films about the importance of the Anacostia to the community, and studied report cards, lawsuits, and the historical timeline of advocacy for the Anacostia. After all of that, we figured out our problem!
We will set out to solve: Over the years, many people, groups, and organizations have made efforts to protect the ecology of the Anacostia River. However, according to the “State of the Anacostia River: 2016 Report Card”, the Anacostia River received a grade of F and the comments state that “Progress made continues to hold steady, but substantial effort is needed to attain safe conditions for swimming and fish consumption.” How can we harness the power of our Two Rivers community to accelerate the “substantial effort” needed to finally make the Anacostia River safe for swimming and fishing?
