Front Doors @ FLE

The front doors at FLE are locked during the instructional day. Please ring the doorbell located on the wall to the left of the front door. He/she may be asked to state their name and purpose for their visit. A member of the front office team will unlock the door for entrance after verification. Guests will need to bring their driver's licenses or state issued identification and stop at the office to get a guest badge. Thank you for helping support us to make safety our #1 priority!

Drop Off Procedures

Who: All Car Riders

What: Drop-Off Procedures

Why: Safety and Customer Service

Drop-off occurs between 8:45-9:15 in the front of the school (not back). Please do not drop and drive prior to 8:45. The doors unlock at 8:45. Parents should remain with their children in the parking lot until the doors are unlocked. We do not want them outside in the cold or left unsupervised.

Pull forward in the front of the school loop so 5 cars can unload at once. Please do not block handicap spots and do not block access to the back lot where our staff park. There should be no cars parked parallel to the sidewalk (except to drop off child) or left unsupervised in the drop off/pick up area. If you do need to park and walk your child in, please park in the lower lot. Students may not be dropped off in the lower lot to walk to the front doors. Parents who park in lower lot should be parking there to walk their child in.

***Be aware and drive with caution in the parking lot(s). Children are present.

Please remember the bus loop is for buses only during student drop off/pickup times.

Car Riders

Please supervise your children when exiting the school and walking to the lower lot. Staff on bus duty are having difficulty differentiating if children are with parents as they roam the parking lot without an adult.

Pick-up Procedures

Who: All Car Riders

What: Pick-Up Options

Why: Safety and Customer Service

Finger Lake’s morning drop off is NOT a pick-up area in the afternoon.

Students that are pick-up go to the gym to line up. Parents have the option to access the "pick-up line" that flows to the back of the school where adults outside will radio inside for students to be sent out. If you choose this option, we have noticed the line is generally clear around 4:05 at the latest. It moves quickly and staff are working hard to load cards as soon as kids are staged in the gym; however, the length of the line varies from day to day. In the event you are not to school by 4:05, please park in the lower lot and come inside.

Parents also have the option of parking in the lower parking lot and walking in the front doors to pick-up their child(ren) in the gym. Students are not permitted to exit the building without an adult/older sibling and walk to the lower lot independently. The back parking lot and drop-off loop are not parking areas after 3:15. Please enter/exit through the first set of gym doors after the 3:45 bell.

We highly discourage early pick-ups to “beat the traffic.” Our teachers are working extremely hard to maximize instruction and they teach bell to bell. If you regularly pick up prior to 3:45, your child is missing valuable instruction and others are distracted when students are getting "checked out" on a regular basis.

Parents/adults picking up children must be on the pick-up list or have made prior arrangements through School Dismissal Manager (https://www.schooldismissalmanager.com/).

Signing Out Early

We strongly discourage early sign-outs simply to "beat the traffic." We have been monitoring how fast we can get car riders loaded and out of the loop. The time has decreased significantly.

If you have an appointment or you need to change your child's pick up routines, please communicate to the office before 3:30. It is an extremely busy "bee hive" from 3:30-3:45. In order to meet everyone's needs and do our best to be diligent at delivering quality customer service, you can support us by calling before 3:30 with modifications to routines.

When students have appointments, we call them out of class when a parent has arrived to the school. Please plan accordingly.

Thank you so much!

Students may ride bicycles to school during the school year as long as the following conditions are met:

  1. Bicycles must be ridden in accordance with the state law.
  2. Sudents should wear helmets and ride on the sidewalk areas of the school to stay away from buses and cars. When first arriving at school in the morning, students must immediately park their bicycles and wait in the front entry way of the school until the doors are unlocked at 8:45 at the earliest.
  3. Bicycles must remain parked in the bicycle rack during the day. They are not to be ridden during recess, lunch or after arrival until the end of the school day.
  4. Bicycles brought to school should be locked or chained to the bicycle rack.
  5. Student(s) may lose the privilege of riding his/her bike to school if these conditions are breeched.
  6. At dismissal, students should report to the gym. At 3:55pm, their teacher releases them to the office benches. A member of the front office team releases students who are walkers and/or bikers after buses are released and the pickup line is no longer active.
  7. FLE will follow what a student’s end of day routine says in SDM. Please make sure the appropriate selection is made for what you want to see occur each day.

School Gate

Our school gate is open until 10:00 pm each evening and locked on the weekends. The playground is still available outside school hours and on the weekends. Vehicles just need to park outside the gate on the weekends. ATVs and snow machines are not permitted on campus per the Mat-Su Borough Code.

Stop Sign @ Corner of Eek and Earl

Please honor all school speed limits and traffic signs. There is a stop sign at the end of Eek Street that requires vehicles come to a complete stop before turning left on Earl. Thank you for being respectful of all neighbors in our community who are also traveling to and from their homes each day.

Parents Right to Know Letter

Each year, districts and schools are required to provide information to parents as well as opportunities for them to be involved in the educational decisions that affect their children. Parents have the right to inquire about the professional qualifications of their child’s teacher and/or paraprofessional. This information is explained to parents in the attached Right to Know letter. Distribution of this letter is a requirement under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act detailed under section 1111(h)(6)(A).
