Davenport's Weekly Update
Week of March 28th, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Greetings,
“Only those with tenacity can march forward in March.” ― Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Keep pushing Davenport Family! The Madness of March ended yesterday and we are full SPRING ahead (pun intended). Hopefully we will be Marching into Sunnier Skies and Warmer days. Be Thankful for all that we’ve achieved thus far. The beauty of this season is that it is ever-changing, with the rain showers ahead of us, beautiful things will bloom!
Have a great day!
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Exploring Magnetic Forces
Ms. Kretschmer's 3rd grade class explored the properties of magnets by experimenting with them. They used common objects placed in stations around the room to discover the push and pull of the magnets' invisible forces to see how they interacted with various materials and each other.
Spring Is In The Air!
Mrs. Heck's and Mrs. Fiola's 2nd grade students learned how the properties of water help flowers bloom this past week.
Miss Hein's class talked about the life cycle of a plant this week. They started growing bean seeds by using a damp paper towel in a Ziplock bag and hanging it in the window to watch the growing process.

CLIMATE & CULTURE
Forest Friends
Our first grade students are being treated to an amazing 6-session puppet program called "Forest Friends", that comes to their classrooms each week. It is an interactive puppet show designed to teach and reinforce life skills shown to have future impact on the ability to prevent substance misuse. Davenport Primary is very fortunate to have this program presented to our students by Miss Hannah McClain from a local organization called Atlantic Prevention Resources.
Mrs. Taylor's students are seen here enjoying and interacting with Miss Hannah as they discussed beauty on the inside as well as how to compliment each other!
