RMS Wildcat Weekly
April 10, 2020 Information for our Families
Happy Friday!
Greetings Wildcat Families:
We hope you are all staying healthy and safe and "weathering" this storm that we find ourselves in! I want to thank everyone who has helped this week to get our Wildcats connected to Virtual School and reconnected with our Roosevelt community! Our teachers, staff, district personnel, parents, and students have all been collaborating to find solutions to our challenges, and so far we have been able to get a large portion of our Wildcats logged in! Thank you for these efforts!
In the next week, we will work to make connections with the rest of our students and stay connected with those who have logged in. It is crucial that our students log into their Google Classrooms and engage in Virtual School every school day as that is going to be our primary means of continuing their learning and ensuring that they are involved in school. Please review the information below about Virtual School so that you can stay informed and so that we can continue to partner in this new learning environment. All of this information is also posted on our website. We are here to support you and are so grateful for this partnership!
Sincerely,
Heather Golly
Virtual School- A Few Important Details
Virtual School Instruction:
As a reminder, students should have picked up their normal classes remotely via Google Classroom with their own teachers. The teachers will be providing assignments, lessons, and/or projects through Google Classroom. Students will turn in their assignments through Google Classroom. Students should be checking their email everyday and their Google Classrooms. VUSD will now be allowing live video chats, but not requiring it for teachers or students. This will be rolled out as the district continues to provide training and protocols for teachers and students.
Every student should review the Roosevelt Middle Virtual School Student Checklist and follow the steps to logging into all of their Google Classrooms. If they need support, please reach out!
Every student should have received an email invitation to join a Pride Hub Google Classroom. These are Google Classrooms where teachers from each Pride will share information and announcements and provide a Week-at-a-Glance of assignments and due dates. Students should join the Pride Hub and review the announcements that are posted. We are also asking that students complete a brief Google Form that shows us they are able to log in. This form is an assignment in their Pride Hub classroom.
Students should follow this schedule (or a similar schedule co-created with their families) and these expectations each day: Roosevelt Middle Virtual School Daily Schedule and Expectations. Routine is important in the lives of middle schoolers, so please work together to create a schedule that works for your family that includes time for when students will do school work, chores, physical activity, fun time, and family time!
Roosevelt Virtual School Parent Guide
In this new environment, you likely have many questions about the best ways to monitor and support your students as they engage in their virtual learning. Please review the information, resources, and links in this Parent Guide to help you. The Frequently Asked Questions and resources should serve as a Beginner’s Guide. Please reach out with other questions! We are here to support you and to work as a team.

Hello RMS Families! Anyone needing a School Counselor support and/or Social-Emotional resources in this difficult time is being directed to the “Counseling” page under the “Departments” dropdown on our RMS Website. We’ve created a short URL for easy sharing. bit.do/rooseveltcounseling (all lowercase). We have also created a “Student Support” slideshow for RMS families that has links to TONS of resources and links to fun stuff (CLICK HERE FOR SLIDESHOW). Lastly, Nancy and I have created a way for our students to request a virtual appointment with us. You can find it at bit.do/rmscheckin (all lowercase). It’s important students know they can make an appointment for themselves, or make an appointment to speak with us about another person they are concerned about!
