Spring at Woodbrook
April/May
Dear Woodbrook Families,
Spring has sprung! We welcome the warm weather and wonder where the April showers have been?
We will be celebrating our wonderful staff at Woodbrook the week of May 1-5. This is an opportunity to send in a heartfelt note of thanks from you and your child for the hard work and dedication the Woodbrook staff puts forth everyday.
Thank you and hats off to every single member of our staff. Each and every one of the Woodbrook teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, nurse, counselor, library aide, custodians, security guards, lunch aides, technology staff, cafeteria staff and bus drivers contributes to all that makes Woodbrook the wonderful school that it is. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
We have enjoyed a few upgrades at Woodbrook recently.
- We have posted a good deal of timely information for you on our newly upgraded electronic sign. Please look for it by the flagpole as you drive up Robin Road towards Woodbrook.
- The fifth grade has been enjoying the privilege of eating lunch in the courtyard at our new picnic tables during the lovely weather. Luckily, our cafe is air-conditioned for the very warm days, so we have the best of both worlds!
- A great thank you to Eagle Scout candidate and former Woodbrook student, Teerth Shah for the installation of a very beautiful new Woodbrook sign under the tree by the stop & drop lot. It is a show stopper! Thanks Teerth for remembering Woodbrook!
- We have brand new sidewalks to our 3/4/5 dismissal & recess blacktop on the side of the building. We are grateful for the extra space!
We look forward to our spring concert at Woodrow Wilson Middle School Thursday, April 27. Students should arrive between 5:15 and 5:30. The concert begins at 6 p.m. Parents/guests should walk to the gym and sit in the bleachers. There are three sections. The choir will sing in the middle of the gym. We will have signs directing you to the band or the orchestra sides of the bleachers. Absolutely no standing will be permitted during the concert for any reason.
Standardized testing is around the corner. See the dates below. Third, fourth and fifth grade students must come to school on time, well rested and with their own headphones/earbuds. Do not send your child to school if he/she is not feeling well. Children do not perform as well as they can when they are ill. HEADPHONES/EARBUDS MUST HAVE WIRES...3.5 MM JACK OR USB CONNECTIONS.
As we plan for next year, please be reminded that we do not accept requests for specific teachers for next year, however, we DO accept requests to NOT have particular teachers. If there is a specific teacher you would rather not have due to a personal experience with an older sibling, you may email me directly with that request. Please note that teachers change grades, a first grade teacher may become a fifth grade teacher and vice versa. If there is ONE specific friend that you feel your child should travel with next year (please do not request more than one specific friend), please email that to your teacher. This is not a guarantee, but we will try. We plan to have anywhere from 6-8 classes on each grade level, so your child will enjoy meeting new friends next year as opposed to traveling with large groups from their current class.
A great big thanks to the many students, staff and families who attended Woodbrook's Drama Club's production of Beauty and the Beast! No one was disappointed. The show was OUTSTANDING, the cast was truly incredible. We loved the acting, the singing, the dancing and the amazing energy and we could not be prouder! Thank you to Mrs. Gram, Ms. Foley and Ms. Vallancourt for making this production possible. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew!
