A Successful Fall Campus Beautification

I would like to share my appreciation for all those who attended or contributed to the Fall Campus Beautification effort this past Saturday! Special thank you to the Hedgecock family for organizing and providing many tools for volunteers to use. We had Harris Creek families, staff members, and even some local Boy Scouts working together on various projects on a beautiful Saturday! As you are around campus, notice the neatly trimmed hedges and trees, the absence of dead bushes/trees, absence of vines on fences, de-webbed windows, and more. We are looking forward to another Beautification Day in the spring!

Today and always, thank you for your continued support of your children and our school. Together, we will help our children SOAR to reach their greatest potential!

[CLOSES TODAY] Action Requested of All Families: WCPSS Bell Schedule Survey πŸ””

Please take a minute to provide feedback to our school district regarding school bell schedules. Family input is critical as decisions regarding school schedules are made for future school years. The possible schedule represents a major shift for Elementary and High School age students. Changes are being considered based on research by the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding insufficient sleep for adolescents. The current considerations are detailed below:

Current Schedule
High 7:25 AM 2:20 PM
Middle 8:30 AM 3:00 PM
Elementary 9:15 AM 3:45 PM

Possible Schedule

High 9:15 AM 4:10 PM

Middle 8:15 AM 3:00 PM

Elementary 7:30 AM 2:00 PM

Complete this survey by October 28: 2022-23 Bell Schedule Survey

[NEW] Welcome PEPI! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Big picture
This past week, all students in Kindergarten and 1st grade classes had the opportunity to experience "PEPI" for the first time. The PEPI (Physical Education Pupil Instruction) program is concerned with developing positive self-images and good motor control in elementary school children. This is accomplished through specific physical education and active listening skills work conducted by participating High School students on elementary campuses.

Selected Heritage High School Juniors and Seniors will assist elementary classroom teachers by teaching physical education, and will be given the opportunity to lead elementary students at multiple elementary schools. One month of instructional training has been given to each Heritage PEPI student prior to working with elementary students. Classroom instruction will contain training in communication skills, elementary physical education and interpersonal skills in working with students in grades K-5. The content and experiences provided through this course can assist in becoming a building block for a student who has high interest in working with young people.

We are thrilled to welcome Heritage High School students each week of this semester and look forward to an ongoing partnership! Our feeder high school, Rolesville HS, does not currently have a PEPI program. If you have a Rolesville HS student, please contact Principal Perry to let him know you think PEPI would be a great program to add!

Please read the linked document in it's entirety if you have yet to do so.

Students May Not Be Dropped Off Until 8:45am

Please be reminded of the expectation that students may not be dropped off until 8:45am. Students may not line up at the front door unless a Harris Creek staff member is present and invites them to do so.

Carpool Efficiency Reminders

Please remember to pull forward as far as possible in both AM and PM carpool, have your student(s) open their own door, and put on your hazard lights if assistance is needed (AM). If needing to help your child get in the seat, please pull forward and into a parking space so that the line can keep moving. Thank you!

Please Display Carpool Number Tags Every Afternoon

In order to ensure an efficient carpool process, please remember to hang carpool number tags to display clearly from your vehicle's rearview mirror. Please reference the image below for proper placement. This is a critical step to ensure students leave their classrooms and come outside to the correct location on the sidewalk to be picked up. Thank you!
