March Virtue: Temperance
We are participating in a Virtues in Practice program this year. Each month, the whole school focuses on the same virtue as we hope to grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and virtues. We also learn more about the saints who exemplify these good habits. This month students and their families are learning about the virtue of Temperance. Please join them by modeling how you enjoy things in a proper, balanced way during the month of March.
There will be a 12:30pm early dismissal this Friday, March 10th. There will also be no school next Monday, March 13th due to a professional development day for teachers. Enjoy your extended weekend!
History Day Competition
Over the weekend, Grace, Natalie and Aubrey represented Father Andrew White School in the St. Mary's County History Fair.
Grace placed 1st and Natalie placed 2nd in the Junior Division, Exhibit portion, of the Fair.
Both will advance to the State History Competition at UMBC in May.
Congratulations!
Sockathon
The FAW DI program is hosting World Down Syndrome Awareness "Fun Sock" Day on Tuesday March 21st! You can either purchase fun socks from our Sockathon fundraiser to be worn on 3/21 OR you may bring in a $1 donation to FAW DI and wear your own fun socks! We can't wait to support TWO great causes on one day! Sockathon orders close on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Thanks so much!
Rotary Club Distinguished Teacher Honoree
Congratulations to our very own, Ms. Shannon Rowland for being nominated as a Rotary Club Distinguished Teacher Honoree. Her efforts with teaching Advanced Math and STEM classes as well as her involvement with the Student Council, SMECO Math Team, and FIRST LEGO League is acknowledged and appreciated! Thank you for all that you do for our students, Ms. Rowland!
Donations, please!
The children have such fun with the Brown Bag Auction and we hope you can help! Please consider contributing items to help build the baskets listed on the flyer below. If you'd like to donate a completed basket, just let a committee member know. Thank you!
A big Thank You to Schneider Orthodontics and the Dent Family for your completed basket donations!
RaiseRight Gift Cart Program
Our RaiseRight (formerly known as SCRIP) Program year, is coming to an end on March 31st. There is still time for you to grab gift cards for your everyday purchases, gifts for Easter baskets, Mother’s Day, etc. There are all kinds of things coming up that you can be well prepared for. Gift cards can be purchased as e-gift cards which you receive instantly or physical gift cards, some of which are reloadable via the App or online.
Thank you so much to all the families and friends that have participated thus far this year. Not only is the school earning money back but we have multiple families earning back rebates that will offset their tuition for next year! How can you check to see if you earned extra rebates? Remember that the first $50 in rebates goes to our school. Everything raised thereafter gets a 75/25 split. To clarify, 75% goes towards your child's tuition (or the 8th grade trip if you prefer) for next year and 25% goes back to FAW. A simple way to check your rebates that you have earned thus far for the year is via the App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/raiseright-fundraising/id1498234012. It allows you to filter by the appropriate dates (April 1, 2022 - March 31, 2023) and displays your total rebate.
Please see below for what we have left in physical inventory. I will be placing one last physical order for this RaiseRight year on March 17th. Please have your orders in to me by then via the app or website. If you’re choosing to ‘pay the coordinator directly’ please send in payment with your order.
Let me know if you have questions!
Thanks,
Jessica Casto

School Store
This quarter, some of our middle school students are operating a school store. They are learning how to take inventory, markup items for profit, and manage the ins and outs of a business. The school store will be open every Wednesday during their elective class time. Items cost anywhere from 25 cents to $10. Please encourage your children to visit the school store! Kindly send in an envelope with money, marked with your child’s name and “School Store” so the middle schoolers know who to expect this week.

Ah, beautiful springtime - it's right around the corner! I find myself praising God every morning as I wake to hear the birds singing and see the beautiful flowers blooming. Of course I know it always brings with it copious pollen and dreaded allergies. For those that suffer from allergies, this probably means increasing allergy medications, and dealing with itchy, watery eyes, stuffiness, sneezing and incessant coughing. Even if you do not have seasonal allergies, we all still inhale what is in the air around us, and this by itself can cause similar symptoms due to increased mucus in our airways (which is used to trap and expel irritants by blowing our nose and coughing). To help with this you may want to use saline rinses, both nasal and oral (i.e. gargling with salt water), and air purifiers. You can also check the allergy forecast - https://allergyasthmanetwork.org/weather/ - in order to "know before you go" and enjoy the beautiful upcoming spring days.
