NAESP: Report to Parents - So Many Activities, So Little Time
The Funseth Family is guilty of overcommitting... It seems (to me) like we are always adding to our list, without feeling like we are taking anything away. It tends to be that way with our children, as well - who each have their one-main after-school activity - but then enjoy trying something new, too. And guess who has to drive them? It's divide and conquer in our house. But they love it - and as parents enjoy seeing them perform. To learn how we as families might better regulate to avoid overload, take a moment to read NAESP's Report to Parents: So Many Activities, So Little Time.

halloween candy collection for troops
Halloween is over - and all that candy! Would you like to help us deliver a little "taste of home" to our troops who are heroically serving overseas? You can donate your excess Halloween candy and help make our brave troops smile!
CB South HS, through Operation Eternal Gratitude, will be collecting candy for our troops. This small token of appreciation is a "Halloween Thank You" as we package goodies to our troops in hopes to show our appreciation.
Please send your wrapped, non-powdery candy to your child’s classroom no later than Friday, November 8th.

"Grand Friends" - New Seasons Assisted Living
The Butler community, in conjunction with our 40 Assets initiatives, is continuing our connection with our “Grand Friends” from New Seasons Assisted Living in New Britain. Each grade level takes a turn to create greeting cards for different holidays and seasons. Our Building 40 Assets representative, Gigi Stewart, delivers the cards to the residents. This month, 6th graders crafted some spooky Halloween cards to celebrate with our senior citizens.

First grade artists have been exploring the basic elements of art such as line, shape and color in their Piet Mondrian style collages. Meanwhile, fifth grade students have explored more advanced uses of those elements in their Butler Bears inspired by Dean Russo.
The first Awesome in Art Awards are starting to go home! As the year continues, EVERY art student will be the proud recipient of the Awesome in Art Award for displaying the habits and work ethic of a true artist. Their artwork will be displayed to brighten our hallways!
