How Can I Make the Support Facilitator and/or Co-Teacher a Part of My Classroom?
Here are a few ideas for helping to integrate the Support Facilitator and/or Co-Teacher into Your Classroom:
- Make sure that her name is also written on the board/documents along with you own
- Provide her with a designated space in the classroom to house materials
- Use inclusive language when talking to students (us, we, our)
- Both teachers model and reinforce the classroom expectations
- Both teachers ask questions to ESE students at the same rate of frequency
- Create an environment where students seek out both teachers to ask questions or for help in the learning process
- Set up a time to plan with her and discuss/brainstorm ways to help students
FTE is Right Around the Corner
FTE Week will be here before we know it. October 8-12 is the attendance window. Betty Wipert will coordinate with you to sign for student attendance. It is very important that all attendance is accurate and timely during this window.
Why is FTE important?
FTE is how we are funded for various programs and supports to effectively and efficiently run our school. FTE is very important for ESE. We receive additional funding for ESE students to help us meet their needs. It is essential for TIEPs to be in compliance during the FTE window.
How does this TIEP and FTE information impact me as a classroom teacher?
We have several TIEPs that are due for review before FTE week closes. It is critical that you be on time for meetings and fully participate. Delay in holding meetings due to non attendance can impact our funding. We thank you for your participation.

In School Staffings Highlight
In School Staffings have begun at Ridgewood High School. A big thanks to our School Psychologist Amelia Maseda. She will be the Chair for our In School Staffings.
What is an In School Staffing?
As a classroom teacher, how can I prepare for an In School Staffing if I am invited?
What is an In School Staffing?
- We hold In School Staffings in order to review files for ESE students who come to us from Out of State. This helps us ensure that Florida recognizes the services/disability indicator that the student previously received. It also gives us a chance to review the student's file to see if additional testing should be conducted to help us help the student in the best possible way!
- We also hold In School Staffings when a parent or teacher contacts the School Counselor to request an evaluation for ESE services.
As a classroom teacher, how can I prepare for an In School Staffing if I am invited?
- Data, data, data
- Be prepared to talk about the student's attendance, performance on assignments and assessments compared to other students in the class, participation, etc.
- You are an essential part of making an ISS effective and efficient!
