Cougs Rise is an initiative of the office of Provost funded by grants from the U.S Department of Education. The program offers low-income and first -generation students from Hudson's Bay High School college preparation programming and mentor ship designed to boost their chances of earning a college degree.
Ready to Rise Application-Day - On Wednesdays, April 10, and April 24, at 12:00-1:00PM in the Career Cente,r Tyler Monk will be here to sign students up up for this leadership program.

In addition to the learning at the conference, three college scholarships, totaling $3,000.00, are offered annually to AAYLC senior participants. Awards are also given to logo contest winners at each conference. http://aaylc.org/conference/
Cascadia Tech Academy -
Registered students for 2019-2020 school year must attend an orientation, check the link for the orientation schedule http://cascadiatechnicalacademy.org/orientations-are-scheduled-for-march-25th-28th/if unable to attend the orientation you must call in advance to reschedule or risk losing their spot. - Arbor Day- Festivities will take place at the International District fire station and its newly-added Heritage Tree, featuring the ceremonial Arbor Day tree Planting, free seedlings, children's activities, and the Mac Award presentation on April 10 at 12:00PM at the Fire Station #2, 2106 Norris Rd.

Furry Friends
Ways to volunteer:
- Shelter Assistant: clean litter boxes, wash bedding, sweep, vacuum, feed/water, give medications, play with/socialize cats.
- Foster Care: provide safe, stress-free, healthy home environment to socialize and love kittens and cats while you prepare them for a forever home.
- Petsmart Adoption Center Shifts: clean litter boxes, sweep, feed/water, play with/socialize cats.
- Weekend Adoption Events: Time commitment varies; transport cats and equipment to local events; be friendly, outgoing and professional with public and prospective adopters. Also, fundraising, senior visits/pet therapy visits, voicemail and email support.

These are some of the internships currently available. These internships pay $12.00 an hour
- CDM Caregiving -Assisting with their day center, some art therapy
- Clark County Public Works-Engineering, Survey and Construction
- Fort Vancouver Historic Reserve -working outside, Horticulture students would be ideal.
- Grant House Eatery at Fort Vancouver -Interning as a hostess, great restaurant experience
- Homewood Suites (near Beaches Restaurant)Front office, reception and some food prep
- Vancouver Public Schools(VPS) Video Editing- Assisting the video department at Vancouver Public Schools. Need to have a flexible schedule, some experience with video editing preferred, and must have transportation to VPS main office
- ALL candidate must be *eligible for free and reduced lunch
