PRINCIPAL AND VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Bonny Slope Community,
At Bonny Slope, the coming of June brings with it a moment of reflection. We are reflecting on the unusual journey we all took together this year and the different phases of our efforts to continue schooling our community.
We fondly remember the initial technology handout days, where we stood outside under tents passing out devices for our students to engage in online learning.
We remember the massive amount of desk cleaning we did, with the hundreds of bags filled with student belongings that were placed outside under the covered area for our community to pick up (and most did!).
We remember the months where our building was virtually empty as most teachers taught from home, and a one person office to answer the doorbell rings and phone calls.
And we remember fondly the day our in-person students came back to the building for the first time in a year; seeing their smiles and joy as they filled our classrooms, and the sounds of teachers teaching in their rooms once again.
We’ve been through so much together, and knowing that through this challenging time, we are stronger for it. With this reflection comes appreciating lessons that we learned from this year, and what we might want to carry forward into the oncoming year.
In the meantime, we celebrate the journey we have been on together, and as always, appreciative of your partnership and collaboration with us as we created our online school and the pivots we encountered as we transitioned to in-person learning.

Books For Bobcats is a Wrap!
Our Books for Bobcats book distribution has officially come to a close. We loved seeing the excitement of students as they received a new bag of books each week. We will have a return tub outside the front of the school for you to drop off any book bags you still have at home.
Please have all book bags returned by Monday, June 14. We hope you enjoyed this fun, reading opportunity!
Camp Achieve - Deadline for Interest Survey is Friday 6/4
Camp Achieve
July, the 6th-29th
8:30am - 12:30am
Bonny Slope Elementary & Cedar Mill Students
CAMP ACHIEVE has had a major response by the staff and community! This grant funded summer school (like no other) opportunity is offered at other school sites all over the district. Bonny Slope has had the most teachers volunteer to work the camp and the most students interested! We will be rocking it at Bonny Slope this summer!!
We are thrilled to be able to extend learning and enrichment during the month of July, the 6th-29th (8:30-12:30 for 15 days) where transportation AND lunch is provided every day! This experience will be spent in enrichment opportunities, including THPRD, Play Fit Fun and other arts based, engaging and active programs! The other half of the day will be spent in small groups (no more than 15) with Bonny Slope teachers and support staff leading engaging, highly integrated learning experiences with a focus on literacy.
Openings are limited, please respond to this interest survey link. Camp Achieve
The deadline to respond is Friday, June 4th.
Due to the high interest and limited staffing, we anticipate having to use a lottery system to enroll.
Confirmation about camp enrollment will be sent Wednesday, June 9th.
If you anticipate vacationing during the dates Camp Achieve is offered, please consider forgoing an application at this time.
We look forward to a fun summer at Bonny Slope!
