Dear Northwood Family:
We are just a few weeks away from the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year! We have been diligently working to ensure that we are prepared on day one to provide your child with the best education possible. As part of this process, please take some time to review this Summer Mailer. This contains the most up to date information and upcoming dates leading up to the 2022-23 school year.
If after reading this you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Enjoy the rest of your summer,
Efrain Martinez, EdD
As we welcome our students back, and our incoming 6th grade students to Northwood for the very first time, there also a few new Husky staff members that we would like to introduce:
Ms. Sanner (Choir)
Ms. Chioros (PE)
Mrs. Hafen (PE)
News for students who have Ms. Rapaport. Her last name is now Mrs. Simons.

Arrival & Dismissal
Arrival and dismissal: To keep our students safe during arrival and dismissal, we ask that you review the following procedures. We have included pictures of entrance doors and aerial maps as a reference. Staff will be on supervision duty beginning at 7:20 in the morning and until 3:00 during dismissal.
Bus students: will be dismissed from the bus in the front area of the school.
Students who are driven to school by a parent: are to be dropped off in the back parking lot area of the school.
Students may be dropped off anytime after 7:20 am. This is when staff are available for supervision.
During the first week of school (August 24, 25, 26), the students will be directed into the building through grade level doors and line up according to their advisory teacher. Beginning August 29th students will remain outside (weather permitting) in their “ grade level zones”. 6th grade: on the sidewalk in the back of the building by doors 10 and 13; 7th & 8th grade: on the sidewalk in the front of the school building. Staff will be outside for supervision during the school year.
Bus students will meet their bus, which will be lined up in numerical order in the back parking lot at dismissal. Once all students are safely on the buses, the buses will be dismissed to transport students.
Students who are being picked up by parents at the end of the school day will meet their parents at the front of the school parking lot area. Cars will be allowed to line up in the front parking lot area at 2:35 pm. It is important that your student is ready to dismiss to keep the traffic flow moving. Vehicles are to exit RIGHT only on North Avenue during dismissal.
Students are not permitted to cross North Avenue unless using the crosswalk areas.
Early dismissal procedures - If your child needs to leave school early for an appointment, please inform the office prior to picking up your child. When arriving at the main office, the front desk will ask you to complete the necessary paperwork for an early dismissal.
Please review the following health information of items to be completed prior to the start of school. All returnable permissions/waivers/fees should be submitted to the school nurse (Alyson Flicher: firstname.lastname@example.org) or the main office by September 9th, 2022. Also, any child wanting to participate in interscholastic sports will need to have a current physical within one year of the sport tryout date.
