What if The Boston Tea Party never happened?
The United States would probably still be under control by Britain and we would not be a free as we are today. Parliament would be overpowered and rule one big country.
Date and Place
The Boston Tea Party occurred on December 16, 1774 in Boston Harbor, Massachusetts.
The Sons of Liberty were drinking alcohol one day and they decided to dress up as native in Indians then board the tea ship and toss all of the tea overboard and into the ocean. Samuel Adams lead this event.
Causes of The Boston Tea Party
Parliament placed a tax on tea to pay off debt from the war. American colonists wanted to protest against the Tea Act.
Purposes of The Boston Tea Party
The Sons of Liberty wanted to show parliament how the felt about the Tea Act.
A raid on three British ships in Boston harbor in which The Sons Of Liberty disguised as Indians, threw the content of several hundred chests of tea into the harbor as a protest against British taxes on tea.
It made people aware of no taxation without representation. We would still be under Britain control in it didn't ever happen. if it didn't happen, no one would be encouraged to protest.
The total cost of tea thrown in the ocean was estimated about $1 million.
More than 92,000lbs of tea was thrown in the harbor.
it was enough to fill 18.5 million teabags.
