SHOW YOUR TRUE COLORS! ~ MUESTRA LO MEJOR DE TI
This year we will build our character education around these 6 character traits. Our focus for August and September will be RESPECT. Teachers will define, model, and recognize RESPECTFUL behaviors at home and school. We will share stories about characters and real people who demonstrate respect for others. It's a great way to begin the year as we set expectations for positive attitudes and positive behaviors.
RESPECT
INTEGRITY
SELF-CONTROL
KINDNESS
DETERMINATION
RESPONSIBILITY
Teachers will present certificates to students to recognize exceptional expressions of the trait of RESPECT. These will be posted in the hallway. At the end of the 6 week focus we will draw names at random and award a selection of small prizes. Watch for more info from your child's teacher.
INFO FROM OUR SOCIAL WORKER
CHROMEBOOK LOAN AGREEMENT AND REPLACEMENT PLAN
The Replacement Plan ($30 fee) provides coverage for any damage to the chromebook. We encourage families to consider this option.
BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION
Did you get the app? Please help us raise funds for Olson by downloading the Boxtops for Education App. All you need to do is purchase products from the eligible products list, scan your receipts into the App, and send in your Boxtops. Each boxtop counts! If every Olson family scanned or turned in $2.00 of Boxtops each month, we could earn over $5,000 for our school!
We will have monthly turn in dates with quarterly contests to see which classroom can earn the most for our school.

SPECIAL EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT
What is Co-Teaching?
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I’m excited to announce that Olson is implementing co-teaching at the 1st grade level this year! Co teaching is when a certified general education teacher and a certified special education teacher work together to prepare lessons within the curriculum. The lessons are presented in different ways and allows more opportunities for students to receive small group instruction. Over the next few years, co-teaching will be implemented throughout the grade levels. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the co-teaching model, you can email me at afosnaugh@wcusd200.org.
