Science Benchmark Dates
For all grades except 4th, the 3rd semester science benchmark window is March 5 - 16 and the fourth quarter window is May 14 - 23.
Because 4th grade will take SC PASS Science, your window had to be adjusted. 3rd semester is Feb. 20 - March 2 and fourth quarter is April 9 - 20.
A few reminders about science benchmark tests. Accommodations should not be given b/c this is not used for grading purposes. This has been confirmed with the SPED department. Also, the assessment should not be read aloud in grades 2 - 5. (Grade 2 can read it aloud in the 1st semester). There will be a lot of testing the remainder of the year, so I wanted to get you the dates so you could plan accordingly. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Information From ESOL
Per state requirement, we have a form that must be filled out on any ESOL student that is being considered for retention. It was recently asked to Missy Brakefield if this paperwork needed to be filled out in conjunction with the R2S information. The answer was yes! So, any of the 3rd grade students who are being considered for retention based on the proposed Read to Succeed law must also have the district paperwork filled out. Diane will get those forms and fill out as much as she can.

Information from Allison Paolini: THIS IS A DATE CHANGE
From Allie:
On the 25th, several colleagues and I will be coming in to speak to the faculty about, instruction, as well as classroom and behavioral management techniques. It will be myself, Dr. Jennifer Jordan, Dr. Abigail Armstrong, Dr. Sherry Holyle, Dr. Walter Hart, Dr. Crystal Glover, and Dr. Lindsay Yearta. We are very much looking forward to our visit and discussion with the faculty!
Prior to our meeting on the 25th Allie asks that you to consider which strategies have worked in the classroom to improve classroom management / reduce disruptive behavior. This way everyone will come prepared to problem solve!

Science Bowl
Attention 5th grade teachers. It is that time of the year for the RHSD Elementary Science Bowl. It will be held near the end of March. Each school has a coach and four students who participate. We are in need of a coach so that we can form our team and begin practicing. If you teach 5th grade and are interested, please let Mr. Hollingsworth and/or Mrs. Kelsey know ASAP. Mrs. Jackson coached our team last year if you want to talk to her and gain more details. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve.
