Avoiding Procrastination
How to Get the Ball ROlling.....,
The only way to beat procrastination is to STOP it!
Lord knows that I have done some procrastinating in my day. I may even procratinate every now and then in the future. However, when it comes to something being a priority, I know I have to get started as soon as I can. Hopefully, the tips and research provided in this poster will help some of you when procrastination strikes.
Procrastination now can cause a mess later!
When you procrastinate on projects that need your attention, you start to create a mess both mentally and physically. You start to feel overwhelmed and can even start to look disheveled.
Start sooner rather than later!
The sooner you tackle the project at hand, the sooner you can get past it. If you set a plan and stick to it you will get a new sense of acheivement that will help boost your confidence and self-esteem. This will actually make completing the project more enjoyable.
Remember time is ticking!
Time waits for no one. Often times we think we have all the time in the world and we look around and there is no time left. The project starts as soon as you are aware somethng needs to be done. Do a visual and mental scan to see what is needed and where you might begin before it's too late.
The Psychology of Procrastination
Procrastination is something that most people have at least a little experience with. No matter how well-organized and committed you are, chances are that you have found yourself frittering away hours on trivial pursuits (watching TV, updating your Facebook status, shopping online) when you should have been spending that time on work or school-related projects. Whether you're putting off finishing a project for work, avoiding homework assignments, or ignoring household chores, procrastination can have a major impact on your job, your grades, and your life.http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=youtube+procrastination&fr=mkg114&vm=r
Some of my favorite ways to avoid Procrastination!
1. Get your mind right, first! Make a list of what meeds to be done and decide the order to do them in. Like with any task or sport, the mental success comes first. If you can picture the accomplishment, you're more likely to succeed. 2. A little anxiety goes a long way. Just as the fear failing a test can prompt you to study for it, anxiety can make you move. Always seek professinal help if you are extremely overwhelmed and unable to manage it. 3. Remember the reason why a task is important. What is the worst case scenario of not completing a task? Now that you know, react in a way that will bring the BEST outcome. 4. Eliminate distractions that are so conveniently around you. Silence the cell phone, keep the web browser shut off, and forward calls to voicemail. Let those that may need to know you need some time to work on a task and you will reach out to them when you can.http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/happiness-in-world/201203/how-prevent-procrastination
