A Season For Thanks

We want to thank each and every one of you for your talents, time, and dedication. Every single person on our campus is an important piece of our success. We are thankful for you and all that you give. We hope that you enjoy your time with your family this Thanksgiving. Please take time to give thanks for all of your blessings, sit back and relax, and find time to re-energize (hot chocolate, a warm fire, and a good book will help). We are a special school not because of WHAT we do but because of WHO we are. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

As of yesterday, 52 lbs of aluminum has been recycled! The STC class appreciates the students and the teachers for making an effort to help us recycle at VAMS. We have also recycled approximately 7488 gallons of recyclables in the last 13 weeks. Or 117 64-gallon recycling containers worth of recycled papers, water bottles, newspapers and packaging materials. WOW! Thank you STC, you all ROCK!!

Shout out to Pat for providing the opportunity for students to come to Saturday School this past weekend! Thank you for taking care of our students!

Want to earn some extra cash for your classroom???

Now that we have your attention...

As you know, we always want our teachers on the cutting edge. We want you taking risks and utilizing out-of-the-box ideas to provide our learners with a premier education. An area we think can help us in that regard is to bring in experts in various fields to our students. Skype is an under-utilized resource that can do just that. With that being said, here's how you can earn some extra cash for your classroom:

We are having a Skype contest from now until the end of the semester. The winners will be chosen based on who provides the coolest, most educational Skype experience for their students. Winners will be chosen the last day of this nine weeks, with first place getting $200 to spend in their classroom, and the runner-up getting $100. Start putting your thinking caps on now about how you can provide a unique learning experience for your students.

Don't forget your first semester PBL...

Teachers, the first semester is quickly coming to a close. Don't forget, the expectation is one PBL per semester. If you need any help expounding on your idea, your colleagues and leaders are a great resource, as is your PLC. Plan a great, meaningful learning experience for your students! It does not have to be perfect. All we ask is that you do your best!

Sunshine Dues

The Sunshine Committee spreads love and joy all year long. The committee provides PLC snacks, decorations for special celebrations, gifts for special occasions, and sends flowers to staff members in time of need. In order for this to be successful, we need your help! Each staff member needs to contribute $20 for Sunshine dues. CASH ONLY! Please give your money to Twila. If you need to pay half now and half later, that is fin. Pay your sunshine dues by Friday, December 4 and earn a JEANS PASS!!! Yes, a JEANS PASS!! Woo hoo!
