Monte Vista News

Week of August 24th-28th

Hi Monte Vista Families and Friends!

I hope this finds you all safe and well. I understand that many of you may still be feeling anxious about distance learning and now we have the added stress of an early fire season and power outages. Please know that we are here to support your children in every way possible.

One way we are doing this is to supply every student with a Power Packet. This is an independent work book with activities for 5 days in the event we lose power and connectivity. We have scheduled a pick up day for this Friday, August 28th from 8:00 to 3:00. Bags will be in front of the school organized by teacher.

Take care and stay safe!

Distance Learning

As we all become accustom to this new way to do school, please keep in mind that when your child's camera and microphone are on, their class can see and hear what is going on behind and around them. We want to be respectful of each other and your privacy as well. Also, please review the distance learning behavior expectations below, with your child.

Just a gentle reminder that teachers are taking attendance every day. Students are expected to attend all classroom meetings and learning blocks each day. We understand there may be some extenuating circumstances, in which case please inform your child's teacher. Doing assignments each day is also counted as attendance and will contribute to student learning. If your child is unable to attend school, due to illness, family emergency, etc., plese call the office and report the absence as you would if we were on campus.

During the next few weeks we will be completing assessments of your child's current performance in English Language Arts and Math. Teachers will be assessing students online. Easy CBM is an assessment of English Language Arts and Math skills. Reading fluency will be administered by your child's teacher, other parts of the test will be done independently by your child. Please remember this a way for us to see your child's knowledge and skill level so that we can better support their learning.
