Preventative Measures
Dallas ISD continues to require face coverings while on District property. Please remember that the mask must cover the nose and mouth. Also, do not remove your mask to speak as this defeats the purpose of the mask.
As a reminder, face masks should be work-appropriate, non-offensive, and not considered derogatory or otherwise disrespectful to team members or visitors. Logos, graphics, and designs must be professionally appropriate as outlined in the district’s dress code policy. This includes, but is not limited to, vulgar slogans/designs/graphics, profanity, etc. See policy DH Employee Standards of Conduct. In addition, masks should not be loose material that could get caught in machinery or cause injury.
Self-Screening
Employees and visitors should self-screen before going to a district site by checking their temperature and determining if they have any of the following new or worsening signs or symptoms of possible COVID-19:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
- Chills/repeated shaking with chills
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Loss of taste or smell
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Fever ≥100.4 or feeling feverish
- Known close contact with a person who has COVID-19
Employees running a fever of 100.4°F or higher, or feeling ill, should stay at home and will not be permitted to report to work. Make sure to contact your health provider, if needed, and notify your supervisor regarding your absence.
Testing Locations
Additionally, the city of Dallas provides testing as well. Please follow the link for more information. Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Testing Locations (dallascounty.org)
Reporting
Employees should inform the District if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or come in close contact with someone with COVID-19. This can be done electronically here..
Quarantine
Employees who have had close contact with someone who tested positive must still follow established procedures – beginning with Reporting (using the link above).
Employees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are not required to quarantine after a close contact with someone who has tested positive unless otherwise directed by a medical professional, Health Services Department, or government agency. Vaccinated employees who are symptomatic or experiencing a breakthrough infection can apply for local EPSL in which they receive UP TO 10 days paid leave.
Unvaccinated staff who are deemed a close contact are required to be quarantined and will be unable to report to the work environment for at least 7 days with a negative COVID test on day 5,6 or 7. If an employee who is not vaccinated comes into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and is required to quarantine, the time used will be deducted from the employee’s paid time off (PTO) balance.
