Indian Knoll Elementary
Veterans Day
Letter From the Principal
Parents,
We have had three wonderful months of school. There were so many exciting events and opportunities to show our successes here at Indian Knoll. As we get close to our Thanksgiving break and holiday, I want to take the time to say how thankful I am to be the principal of your child’s school. This community is so very supportive. The staff and I greatly appreciate all that you do to help us make IKES the best school anywhere.
Remember that we have multiple ways of keeping you informed about school events. If you have not signed up to be a part of our text blasts, please contact our front office so that they can give you the specific information by grade level. Also, if you are a parent of a Kindergarten through fifth grade student, please make sure that you sign up with Canvas provided by the Cherokee County School District. Our registrar or your child’s teacher can help you. This system is wonderful in keeping you alerted to your child’s grades and attendance. Be sure to visit our school webpage. It provides you access to each of our individual classroom teachers’ websites. Each of these connections can help keep you informed of all of the “happenings” at Indian Knoll.
We are also asking our parents to participate in a short 24 question Georgia Parent Survey (this is a different survey than the one we did at the beginning of the year). Data from this survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating as reflected in our CCRPI score. It is important for our school community. Responses are submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education. The window will be open for a few weeks.
Georgia Parent Survey:
We hope to see you at our Thanksgiving luncheons this month. Second, K and Fourth grades are on November 14. First, Fifth & Third are on November 15. This event is always a fun and exciting time for our families to spend together. I hope each of you has a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving Break.
Dr. Ann Gazell, Principal

They are offering cookie platters that will be delivered to the school on the morning of the event. All you have to do is purchase from their shop at the links below. The bakers will be providing us with the families’ names who donated so that we can display them with the cookie platters. Cookie flavors and platter size options vary by baker. They have asked that all orders be placed by Friday, November 18th. They may be able to accept late orders but it will be on a case by case basis. Advocacy/Legislative Update
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! PTA has an almost 120 year history of advocating for children. Each year, Georgia PTA surveys our members to develop our Legislative Priorities. Please take a few minutes to let GA PTA know what issues are a priority for you!
