Farewell Ms. Fatima and Ms. Wright

Farewell but Congratulations to Ms. Fatima and Ms. Wright. Ms. Fatima was named the Community Engagement Director for APS. Ms. Wright is now serving as an MOID Teacher at Freedom Middle School.

New SubFinder - Action Required

DeKalb County School District will soon transition to Aesop, a substitute software management system to assist with increasing our fill rates for vacant positions and employee absences. The Subfinder System will no longer be utilized after December 18, 2015.

In an effort to prepare for this transition in January 2016, we are asking that all teachers take time to view the training course link below and the attachment. Please contact the Division of Human Resources by emailing subhelp@dekalbschoolsga.org if you need additional assistance.

SLO Virtual Inservice - Action Required

Note: This is for classroom teachers only.

SLO Online Inservice

Beginning in December, the district will be using itsLearning as the platform to administer SLOs. All teachers will be completing their SLOs in itsLearning in January - only teachers involved in November's Pilot training will administer the SLO post-assessment in December (note: non-piloting teachers will use IDMS/Schoolnet).

While we are trying to value your time, especially during EOC season, you are expected to complete all tasks by Friday, December 11. Note: If you completed these tasks during the SLO Pilot, you are good to go and will only need to complete step 4.

Here are the tasks you will need to complete:

1. Complete the online training modules

  • Go the following URL to log in:
  • Your username is your Active Directory login or enumber (e.g. e12346578).
  • Your default password is Dekalb01.
    • You'll be prompted to change the password at login.

2. Watch the SLO Inservice video (new link that doesn't require request for access), go online and keep pace with the training session as they review who to administer the sample pre-assessment.

3. The attached documents (see 12/4 email) will provide for additional tips on facilitating a successful SLO assessment administration and screenshots.

4. Sign off on completion (Main Office)

Please contact me with any questions. Thank you.

Paper - Please Be Thoughtful in Your Usage

It is clear we are in the final days of the semester - the amount of paper used daily has increased dramatically. Please know that most of the school's budget is used by your requests for instructional materials. We have a limited remaining budget, and paper and toner take up the majority of it, as is.

Please be thoughtful in your usage of paper as we bring this semester to a close. Maybe that 20 page-review packet could be just as effective a tool reduced to a fraction of the pages. Maybe recycling paper would enable students to learn the material and save a tree.

Thank you in advance (the copy machines thank you too).

TKES Updates - Action Required

TKES Mid-Year Conferences - Face to Face

On Tuesday, December 15, we will be holding our Mid-Year TKES Conferences during your Planning Times (7:30, 8:30, 10:00, 12:00, 2:00) in the Theatre.

Formative Observations

The administrative team has begun our first round of formative (30 minute) observations. Don't forget to go into the Electronic Platform to sign-off on Formative Observation #1.

Custodial Survey

Please take a few minutes to give some feedback to the custodial staff regarding concerns that may improve the quality of service rendered in your respective areas as well as in general regarding the campus buildings and grounds.

This information will be used to help evaluate our processes and procedures and look for better ways to enhance.
