MBMS Great Racial Challenge!
Attendance on Self- Sustained Learning (Asynchronous) Days
As a reminder, when students are working on self-sustained learning days, attendance is based on students logging onto Canvas. Students will be marked present when they log into each teacher’s Canvas class between the hours of 8:20am and 2:35pm. Students with 8th period have until 3:30 to log onto Canvas. As a parent, you can create a Canvas account and view each of your child’s classes. If you would like to check your child’s absence report in Parent Vue please watch this video.
Academy Update for Current Academy Families

The event will take place virtually via Zoom, and the link to join the meeting will be provided on the morning of the 17th via email. Families will be provided with a fiscal update addressing Meadowbrook’s Academy program for the 2021-2022 school-year.
Do you want to get your child more involved with positive student activities at MBMS? Student clubs are forming now! We have everything from Book club and Art club to Yoga club and even a Harry Potter club. There is sure to be something for everyone, and new clubs can be formed at anytime. This is a great way to get your child connecting with other like-minded students at Meadowbrook. Students can learn more by following the link in their Homeroom/Advisory Canvas course.

Beginning February 1, students will be taking the i-Ready diagnostic assessment. This assessment is unique in that it will give us specific information about what your child knows and what he/she needs to work on next in math and reading. The purpose of this assessment is not to give your child a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your child’s learning.
Students will take the reading assessment the weeks of February 1-February 12, and the math assessment the weeks of February 15-26. Students will take the i-Ready assessment over the course of multiple days in 60-minute segments. English and math teachers will be proctoring the assessment live over Zoom during the first part of their instructional block. Students will access the i-Ready assessment by going to MyPlan and finding the i-Ready icon.
In regular circumstances, students take their i-Ready assessments at school, but during these special times they might need your help in providing a supportive environment to take assessments at home. The i-Ready diagnostic assessment is an adaptive assessment and students are only expected to answer 50% of the questions correctly. It is important that you do not help your child with understanding or answering questions. Your child will benefit from your support and encouragement to ensure the information received accurately reflects what they know and what they need to work on next.

Fall testing results for parents can be access by following the steps below:

Message from our Counseling Team
Meadowbrook kicked off another school-wide Community of Kindness lesson this week with this month’s focus being “Names Matter’. Mustangs were given the opportunity in their advisory class to build deeper connections by learning more about their classmates and sharing more about their names as it relates to their identities. Students watched a video on the importance of names and discussed how taking the time to get to know others in this way can help continue to build our diverse Community of Kindness at Meadowbrook.
