What's Happening in the Classroom??
- Engineering is Elementary: Students are learning about designing model membranes.
- Language Arts -Students will continue our unit in ELA: Making Decisions. In this unit, students will read and compare folktales from around the world to analyze how characters solve problems. Students will be asked to identify and summarize key events. Students are working on identifying character traits in a variety of texts.
- Word Study- Students will continue to practice with the irregular plural forms of nouns and identifying long and short oo words.
- Math -In math, we will continue to explore fractions. Students will be able to explain any unit fraction (1/b) as one part of a whole. Students will learn what it means to be a fraction. We will explore fractions using manipulatives and real world situations. Can you find a way to discuss fractions at home?
- Writing - Students will continue to explore the three types of writing: opinion, informational and narrative.
- Vocabulary- Students will be able to use reference materials to build vocabulary. They will show their understanding of the word by using it in a sentence during collaborative conversations and in writing. Want to know which vocab words students are studying? Click here.
- 7 Habits - Habit 3: Put First Things First. Can your student sing our school 7 habits song: All the 7 habits? "Habit 3 put first, First things first, Work before you play!
VALENTINE'S DAY EXCHANGE
If you would like to participate in our class exchange, attached is the class list of names. If you participate, please make sure to make a Valentine for each student. We will be exchanging on February 14th. This will be an exchange, not a classroom party.
