Academic Smart Goal
M- I am planning on getting honour roll throughout my high school career and by doing that in all 4 classes per semester I need a 80% average at least. I want to ensure that I will be doing my homework consistently and review my notes everyday. I will look through old assignments and tests to see how I am doing and in which areas I need an improvement. To maintain my average, I will be asking more questions when I need to and not shy away. I will have a calender which organizes my week out and determines on what day I have a quiz or a test, that way everything can be balanced throughout my weekly schedule. I will ask teachers for a mark update when I feel like I need to and see their views on my progress, in what areas they may want to see improvement in.
A- To get a 80% average, many things need to be accomplished. One of the things is to review my notes daily so that I understand what is going on in each class and if there are any questions I can ask the teacher. Also, reviewing my notes will take away a major problem of mine which is procrastinating when studying for a quiz or a test or a exam and I have to review everything at once which leads to stress and gets overwhelming. Another thing that could help me maintain a 80% average is doing my homework regularly. This will help me because I learn things more when I actually do them ad not see them being done for me. Also, the homework would help me get E's in my learning skills which could boost my mark. Another method is to ask more questions to maintain a 80% average because if I don't understand something, the teacher moves on and that very thing will haunt me back on a test which may effect my goal for getting a 80% average. Another method of being successful in school and getting a 80% average is to focus in class which may even lead to not misunderstanding stuff and not asking questions. Also focusing is key because sometimes I don't even have to go home and review because I fully understand the concepts being taught in class and doing the homework is much easier. My strength is responsibility which is I always complete my homework and tasks within the time given and that will help me succeed to get 80's and my learning skills to E's because I am doing stuff to boost my mark and which would impress my teacher. My weakness is procrastinating which is not doing a daily review because even some days if you pay full attention, some components of the lesson are not clear and then the next day I would forget to ask questions which is bad because I am harming my own studies and if that same question were to be on a test I would not succeed. This means that I should review and focus in class more.
R- This goal is important to me because I want to be happy about myself and my education. Also because I want to make my parents proud and a 80% average will only boost my confidence in the future. Yes I can achieve this goal by the end of grade 12 because if I continue my good work habits from now, I will for sure succeed as right now on my assessments and test I've been doing good. It is doable because my mark in all classes has been continuing to rise which is a good sign towards the 80% average and I just need to be very consistent.
T- The time frame to complete my goal is till the end of grade 12 and each semester I need a 80% average. Each test I have, I will try to achieve 80% which will eventually lead to my main goal of a 80% average. I want E's on my report card which will boost my grade and my assessments will be needing 85% or higher to reach my success.
Smart goal for Volunteering
Smart Goal #2
M- To measure my progress and manage the hours I have completed, I will make a organized chart which includes the date, and time I have done so that I know how many volunteer hours are remaining. I will note down the 60 hours each time I start and finish my time. If by any chance, I do not remember to note down the hours, I will call the volunteer place and ask them to check their log and then note them down. I will then calculate the hours I completed so that I know how many are remaining.
A- Firstly, to achieve this goal, I will have to apply to multiple places that allow volunteering because nowadays it's very hard to volunteer as there are many people to do it. I will have to be on the lookout for opportunities and which really suits me and then volunteer at the place. I would have to check my schedule and see what time I could fit in to volunteer because it depends on how long the place is open till. For example, the Brampton Civic Hospital is open till 8 pm for students to volunteer and I get home at 3:30 pm so I would have to see at what time I would fit in the schedule since maybe others are placed at that time. Also for me to achieve this goal, I need to figure out how to get there because if the place is far, I will not be able to walk so I will need to arrange a car pool or my parents dropping me off and see if they are available. My strengths are that I have great time management skills so making a schedule is not difficult for me and finding a suitable time is not hard for me as I do not have any extra curricular activities planned. I know the more hours I get, the more successful I will be and more knowledge I will get because then to look good for hiring managers and universities they will recognize my experience. My weakness is my laziness as I am a very lazy person and do not like to walk so I have to rely on others to drop me off which is a very bad habit. I would have to get rid of my laziness habit and put in some effort to get to the place and volunteer if I want to be successful. In some situations during school, it can get hard to manage time when there is a lot of homework to complete so I will take a day off to finish my work. This does not mean I should slack and just keep saying I will go tomorrow as time flies and it does not wait so that is why I want everyday to count so I can not be a lazy person and just relax and sag off. If I want to get accepted into a good, well respected university I know I will have to put in the work and take my own spare time out so I need to really stop being lazy and sacrifice myself. My weakness is also that looking at the time I have, I can always say that I have about 2 and a half years to complete the goal which is just a another excuse to relax.
R- Yes I can achieve this goal as it is a very reasonable goal. This goal is doable as there is much time remaining till the end of grade 12. If I go about an hour every other day I know I will exceed my hours limit and I will be satisfied. This goal is important to me because I know that for me to really focus in school and get good grades is not to stress and get distracted by stuff. Also, I would like to get my hours done before grade 12 ends because I know grade 11 and 12 really matter to get in a good university so I need to have a high average for me to go to a well known and good university for my future career alongside a good amount of volunteer experience so that I stand out as a student compared to others. I am a stressful person and I know getting my hours done by the end of grade 12 and majority of them done over the summer, I will not need to stress to get them done in between the school year and just focus on school. I will go to summer school for the first month of summer and the second month is free so I will try to complete as many hours as I can during August 2016. Also, a lot of volunteer experience looks good on a resume and the hiring manager would rather hire an experienced person rather than inexperienced person.
T- I would like to complete my goal by the end of grade 12 which is in June 2018. This means I could volunteer about an hour or so every other day and I will exceed the hours limit I want.

Part 4: Challenges paragraph
Firstly, a challenge for police officer is that they have to undergo a lot of criticism for even doing their own jobs. Now that technology is a main part of society, police officers get caught on camera/ video where they are not doing the right thing and then getting criticized. What many people don’t take in as that police officers have one of the hardest jobs in the world, chasing criminals and drug dealers which only the brave can catch and not fear. Police officers are here to serve and protect the community and that is the positive but society always looks at the negative which is how they interact with certain individuals. Society is judgmental because they do not know what that person has done or said so if a cop is trying to catch them viciously, they will think and say that was so bad. Police officers can avoid criticism by admitting to what they did instead of denying it because that will only cause more hate. For instance the officer who choked Eric Garner a few years ago did not admit to choking him and received even more criticism and hate. Therefore to avoid criticism police officers shall admit to their wrongdoings and not hide it.
Last but not least, police officers do not have the best meal plan to stay in shape. Police officers have to work extra hours in the workplace and that means no proper diet or less eating. They face late shifts often as they do not go home and eat a healthy dinner and have to eat out. This also puts an negative effect on their health because junk food is of course bad for them and that means they can get out of shape that will affect their patrolling job. They have no option but to eat out because if they were not to eat, then they would not function 100 percent at the job which is a liability. But junk food also is not the greatest option for them but they rather function somewhat on duty rather than not being able to do anything. The causes of eating a lot of junk food result in diseases and heart attacks. Some officers have had heart attacks on the job that have resulted in the suspect getting away which is very dangerous. In order for none of this to happen, police officers should eat more efficiently by making healthy meals and packing them for the job which would reduce their spending and keep them in shape. Also if they can not cook some days, they should follow a healthy meal plan which would benefit their healthy lifestyle and keep them in shape.
