Penn Pride: We have. We are. Together.
Together ... having fun together is also learning together
We started last Friday with Fun Night. WOW! That was fun. Peaceful and productive too. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way -- whether you attended, shopped at the silent auction or volunteered. Special thanks to our PTO officers and Fun Night Committee Chairs. YOU all rocked Fun Night!
We enjoyed having some Penn Alum who are now part of the Liberty football team visit on Thursday morning. Talk about PRIDE! These young men came and represented Liberty so well. They were polite and interacted with our students kindly. We love that our students got a glimpse of what growing up looks like.
Then we had the parade for Liberty Homecoming! It was a beautiful evening to hangout with friends, represent our pride and throw some candy. :)
Also, more philosophically, I've been thinking a lot about play and the importance of providing our children with opportunity for unstructured play, so that they have the opportunities to develop friendships, creativity and problem solving skills.
Someone shared this video recently. I found it interesting and it gave me a lot to think about. I am not making any "anti - technology" statement by sharing this with you. I am saying though that I think we all have more fun when we play together.

SHINE AWARD for Miss Duthie!
Today we got to honor Miss Duthie with the Shine Award. She was nominated by the Patton family for providing an amazing experience for their sons last school year. They mentioned that Miss Duthie made their classroom engaging and fun, that she got to know every student so well and communicated with parents by sharing pictures and updates regularly. Miss Duthie is exceptional and we are proud to have her in our pride.
Nominations can be submitted by students, parents, District employees, businesses, or community members by completing the following nomination form. District employees will be selected and honored throughout the school year to receive this prestigious honor.
If this made you think about someone you'd like to honor, here is the nomination form.
