Principal's Column
Dear South School Families:
I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday break with family and friends. As we move towards the winter holiday season, please keep a close eye on your child's online activities. As students have more free time during school breaks, they spend more time on social media, as well as the internet. It is easy for students to wander into areas that can be dangerous or get into email exchanges that can be harmful. It is important to use the parental safety formats that your internet providers offer you.
I would like to give a special thank you to Mrs. Georg, Mrs. Buck, Mrs. Olson and the PTA for sponsoring the viewing of the movie Angst. I would also thank Vinnie Scardina for allowing us to provide the movie at the CMX Theaters in Arlington Heights. Almost 600 people filled all six theaters. If you missed the viewing of the movie Angst, please see the information below regarding an opportunity for a private viewing.
As the weather starts to change, please drive carefully and be patient as you drop off or pick up your child from school. With the upcoming snow and ice, please plan to give yourself extra time as you head to South. Also, be mindful of students crossing streets and parkways.
Happy Holidays,
Dr. Jim Morrison, Principal
South Middle School
