Happy Friday, Families!

September 25, 2020

We wrapped up the majority of our fall NWEA testing this week! Thank you to our fully virtual families who brought your students up for testing on Wednesday. These scores are just a baseline of how students are performing at the start of the year. They show us each child's strengths and areas for growth. Your child's teacher will work with them to create a growth goal for the winter and a plan of how they'll make that growth.

As a reminder, we have school every day, Monday through Friday! Please make sure your child is logging into Blackboard each and every day. Please also make sure that your student is bringing their iPad/Chromebook and charger with them to school each day they're on campus.

Finally, we are so excited to announce another partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint! Some of our families have expressed a need supporting their virtual learners on days they're not on campus; the Boys and Girls Club has extended their hours and staffing to allow our students an educational setting when they're not able to be in our school building. If you are interested in having your student attend the Boys and Girls Club from 8:30-4:00 on days they're not in school with us, please contact Mrs. Bilkos in the office. She can provide you with the three forms needed to enroll in the program (also linked at the bottom of our newsletter), and we'll get you all signed up!

Have a wonderful and rejuvenating weekend!

Mrs. Roark brought one of our awesome kindergarteners, Mr. Jacob, to the office to read a story to us! He did an excellent job!

Student of the Month

Our September character trait is safety! Teachers have been looking for scholars who demonstrate safety in school and online. We will announce our September Students of the Month next week!

Dress Code

Our dress code still applies on campus! Shirts must be solid and can be any shade of blue, yellow, white, or black. Bottoms must be khaki, navy blue, or black. No athletic styles of any kind. For our future learners, please make sure clothes are not distracting and are appropriate.

Thank you!

Meal Distribution for Virtual Families

Fully virtual families can pick up 5-day meal kits between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm on Wednesdays. These can be picked up by the west gym doors on the side of the building (where we did food distribution in the spring).

If you opted out of the meal kids but would like to receive them, please email Nick Zilz at, or call him at (810) 768-3860 to be added to the meal kit distribution.

Thank you for your patience with our new Kickboard system! We have fixed the birthday error families were receiving. You should now be able to register your student using their birthday and the access code provided by their teacher. We recommend downloading the app, but you can also register here. Please let us know if you are still having any trouble with Kickboard!

Thank you!
