Redcoats Score 1st Division Superior Rating

The GHS Redcoat Marching Band scored a 1st Division, also known as a superior rating, at the UIL Region 2 Marching Contest Saturday, October 19 at the Denton C.H. Collins stadium. This is their second consecutive 1st Division rating in the marching band event.

The Redcoats will not advance beyond the region level this year, as it is not an advancing year for 4A schools. This year’s strong showing will put them in a stronger position to prepare for next year’s run at advancement to the area and state levels.

Edision Spooky SpEd-tacular

The Speech Team and SPED teachers hosted a trick or treat for our ECSE, Life Skills, and inclusion SPED students. They used communication boards for eliciting "trick or treat "candy", and "thank you" for our nonverbal or uncomfortable students. This activity was created to give these students the opportunity to rehearse the social routines of trick or treating as well as provide the parents with tools for participating at home with families. The teachers also took this opportunity to teach the students the importance of staying with the group.
