Family Spotlight- Learning Coach Ayla Wimett and student Ta. Wimett
We live in South Ogden and my daughter, Tawni, has been an only child for over five years. She was so excited to start kindergarten this past fall although she had a unique experience because her new baby brother, Jimmy, arrived just two days before school started. I knew that I was taking a lot on being Learning Coach and a new mom at the same time, but my husband and I felt that homeschooling Tawni online was still the best thing for her. This has proven to be so true! Tawni loves her classes with Mrs. Jeppson and excels at doing her work at home. We were a little behind at first because it took us a few days to settle in after the baby was born, but we are now up to speed in all her classes thanks to a lot of effort and hard work on Tawni's part. I have found the most important thing we can do is to get Tawni's school work done first thing in the morning. If we wait to start school sometimes it just doesn't get done. If we jump on it first thing then it gets done before the rest of our hectic lives kick in. Tawni's education is so important and has priority over most other things (the exception being little Jimmy). Communication has been the key to keeping Tawni on track. We communicate regularly with Tawni's teacher to make sure we are progressing like we should be and when Mrs. Jeppson was out of town not long ago I logged into the LC Lifeline and got all my questions answered by Luann Charles. Mrs. Charles was so helpful and gave me more information and assistance than I expected. Tawni's dad and I are so proud of her and I love how things have worked out for us so far at UTVA. We definitely plan to come back next year!
