Industry-Based Certification(IBC) Success!
Our program of studies teachers conducted IBC exam this semester. We have more than 50 students who earned Industry-Based Certificate. I want to give huge thanks to the Programs of Studies Biomedical Science teacher, Mr. Tuncel, Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts teacher Ms.Kurszewski-Jones, and Programming and Software Development Mr. Caliskan for their hard work and support.
Please join me in congratulating the students below on this great success. The students will continue to take the exam, and we look forward to sharing the excellent news with you.
What is IBC (Industry-Based Certificate) and how does it impact students' future success?
Industry-based certifications represent skills and learning that open doors and act as a springboard for higher levels of achievement to ensure students’ independence and success in life beyond high school. Successful passing of Industry-based Certification exams contribute to success in preparing students for valuable careers, whether through entering the workforce directly or persisting through higher education institutions.
This is also aligned with our goal of preparing students for success in postsecondary endeavors, whether they are succeeding directly in the workplace or pursuing higher educational opportunities. IBCs enable students to start their career in their desired profession as soon as they graduate from high school.
Postsecondary Decision Making Meetings
Dear Seniors and their parents,
April is extraordinarily busy for seniors as the first week of May is the typical decision day for postsecondary plans. All universities require a deposit for admission to secure a spot in their upcoming class. Before making a final decision, HSA Pflugerville College and Career counselors will conduct and lead Postsecondary Decision-Making Meetings with our students and parents. You will receive a meeting request invitation from your child's assigned college and career counselor.
As an important reminder, before the meeting, students must
- Update all college application results on Schoolinks
- Upload all financial aid award letters for accepted colleges
- Take the Senior Exit Survey on Schoolinks.
- Complete/Draft College Financing on Schoolinks (preferred)
I firmly believe that all of our seniors possess all the qualities to become successful college students. Our experienced team is ready and available for additional help and support with their college decision-making process.
Thank you very much in advance for your consideration and attention and for being involved in this important process.

HSA Pflugerville Student Awarded Prestigious National Honor Society Scholarship
Dear HSA Pf family,
The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Ahmet Asim Aykanat, a high school senior at HSA Pflugerville and member of NHS, has been selected as an NHS Scholarship semifinalist.
Since 1946, more than $21 million in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
In the 100+ years since NHS was founded in 1921, members have been making a difference in their schools and communities, and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
At HSA Pflugerville, Ahmet Asim Aykanat has done over 400 community service; for example, he serves as NHS Vice President, youth mentor, school safety patrol, drummer, and tutor. This fall, he hopes to attend one of the top universities in the nation to study computer science or an area of interest.
You have accomplished great success and well deserved this award. Congratulations, Ahmet!
