THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS MIRACLE

This miracle is important because it shows how faith can save you. The man showed great faith and courage that Jesus could cure him. At this time, many people believed that Jesus was performing miracles because he was attempting to prove himself. The blind man truly believed Jesus could save him and he wasn't searching for proof of Jesus. Jesus only performed his miracles if the person needing the saving has faith that they would be healed and that Jesus was truly the Son of Man.

BACKGROUND OF THE BLIND MAN

The man was blind from birth.

JESUS'S REACTION

Jesus said, “it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him." Jesus spat on the ground and made clay and smeared the clay on the man's eyes and told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam and then he would see. Jesus cured the man so he could physically see since he could already spiritually see.

PERSONAL ACCOUNTS OF EYEWITNESSES

The Pharisees were divided in there opinions. Some of the Pharisees questioned his divinity and the fact that he was truly from God. The Pharisees believed this because he didn't keep the Sabbath. On the other hand, the other Pharisees asked how a sinner could perform such miracles. The blind man himself had stated that Jesus was a prophet and sinner or not, he could see and it was a miracle. The man's parents said he was definitely born blind and that their son is old enough and can speak for himself.

PERSONALITIES FROM THE PEOPLE AND THEIR REACTIONS TO JESUS

The people were hostile and didn’t believe that Jesus cured him because he did not keep the Sabbath. They asked how a sinful man could do such signs.
