New Explorer Post in Aledo
May 1, 2017 was the first meeting for the Aledo ISD Police Departments Explorer post. We have been working with the Aledo ISD PD since Police Chief Fred Collie had an interest in bringing this career program to Aledo. The post has 7 youth members, representing grades from 9-11 as well as a recent Aledo graduate currently serving as a Marine Corps reserve member. The advisor is Officer Clint Robinson who has led a successful Law Enforcement post at a past department. Everyone involved is excited about upcoming meetings as well as preparing for competitions. Please contact Officer Robinson at the Aledo High School for more information on this new program.

Rocket Academy
You can host a more streamlined Rocket Academy with just one rocket. One of the simplest rockets to make and shoot off is the Alka-Seltzer rocket. Your rockets can be very simple projects, or you can make them a bit more elaborate by adding fins and a nose. Add a rocket fuel drink, and you’re ready to go!
If you want to build rockets that are more complex, check out the BSA’s information about holding a Rocket Academy.

Lion Pilot Program Continues...
The Lion program weaves traditional Scouting concepts of character development, leadership skills, personal fitness and citizenship into activities that are age-appropriate and fun for the boys and their parents.
The activities introduce the family to Cub Scouting, and provide an exciting way for the little guys to explore the world around them. The program will fuel their imagination, creativity and fun as they experience the growth Scouting can provide. At the end of the Lion year, they “graduate” to Tiger and advance through Cub Scouting.
If you would like more information getting the Lion program started in your cub unit, contact Ryan Hecker - LHC DE (Ryan.Hecker@scouting.org)
