Fifth Grade Newsletter
January 10, 2016
Dear Parents:
Here's what's happening at school this week.
English
We were finally able to share our charity project videos, and they were well worth the wait. There was some excellent research and very compelling projects.
We also started reading a great fantasy, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Students have character pages in their composition books to keep track of the main characters as we read. We will also be comparing the settings, London and Narnia.
Pen Pals
It's so much fun to see the cards we made in the hands of our pen pals in Turkey!
Mrs. Muladore's Class
We are excited to receive cards from our pen pals in Turkey!
Mrs. Garver's Class
Check out the cool cards we got from our pen pals in Turkey!

Social Studies
We will continue to work on explorers this week. Students will have vocabulary words that they can study throughout the week. The second round of the Geography Bee, which is a 5th-6th grade competition, will be this week. The third and final round will be a 5th through 8th grade competition that will be held in the CMS/HS Auditorium. Stay tuned for more information. I will keep you posted!
Congratulation to our classroom winners:
Mrs. Muladore's Class- Sheldon, Ellen, Merette
Mrs. Garver's Class- Delaney, Katie, Autumn, Cole
Math
This week, students will take what they learned about function tables and apply that to the coordinate plane. They will learn what a coordinate plane is, and how to plot points on it. Students will also learn about graphing linear functions. There will be a quiz at the end of the week to check for understanding. IXL Practice: T.1, T.2, T.3, T.4, and T.5.
