Message from Mr Whitaker
Dear Englewood eLearning Families,
As you know, eLearning has presented us with many new challenges to overcome. One of those challenges is ensuring our teachers have the opportunity to take days off for illness, bereavement, or personal reasons. This is no different than what our in-person teachers are able to do. With in-person teaching, however, guest teachers are more readily available to continue learning when the classroom/support teacher is out. eLearning presents a different kind of challenge, as not all guest teachers have the skillset to support students in an eLearning environment.
In an effort to be transparent and do what is best for our students, we wanted you to know our approach to managing eLearning teacher absences. Our first step will be to locate and request a qualified eLearning guest teacher that we have worked with and we know can support learning in a digital environment. If that is not possible, we will move to the next step. In the instance where we cannot assign an eLearning guest teacher that meets our expectations, our eLearning teachers will provide videos and content for students to access in order to continue learning. This means that students will have learning opportunities that will occur entirely asynchronously. In other words, students may not be interacting with a teacher; rather, they may be watching learning videos prepared by their classroom/content area teachers as well as engaging in digital content in order to continue learning.
Please understand that this experience will vary between elementary and secondary students as well.
This unique challenge allows us the continued opportunity to evolve eLearning into a format that works for both students and teachers. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility when it comes to allowing our teachers to take the time they need to handle the complexities of their lives as well. Our teachers do so much to take care of our students. I feel it is incredibly important that we respect and honor the moments they need to take care of their personal lives as well.
If you have questions about what this experience will be like for your student, please reach out to your child’s teacher. If you have questions, comments, or concerns regarding this approach, please reach out to Paul Whitaker, Principal of Englewood eLearning. Thank you for your continued support of our incredible eLearning teachers!
Regards,
Paul Whitaker

Original Works Art Fundraiser
Dear Parents,
We are going to be participating in the Original Works Art Fundraiser this year! This program offers an opportunity for you to purchase items with your student’s artwork printed on it. They even have a face mask! Funds that we raise will be used to purchase other special art supplies and perhaps a visit from a guest artist. Due to our learning situation this year, we won’t be able to run the Original Works Program* in the same set up that you may be used to doing in the past.
BUT WE HAVE GREAT NEWS FOR YOU!
We have set up a program with Original Works called Online at Home.
Students will be creating a piece of art during their weekly Art Room Zoom meetings.
Parents can place orders online during a two week period that Original Works has set up for us.
Ordering during this window will ensure prompt turnaround of the orders so that products arrive in plenty of time for the holidays.
Shipping will be added at checkout and the products will ship directly to your homes.
The students will be given more information through the Art Room Zoom and Google Art Classroom. Stay tuned for more information to come. If you would like to mark your calendar now, our ordering timeframe is:
November 2 to November 16
Placing orders during this time frame will assure your order arrives in plenty of time for the holidays.
We hope you will participate in this art-filled program! Thank you for all that you are doing to ensure that your students have a meaningful and inspiring year.
Sincerely,
Kate Dulaney

Edgenuity Updates
Understanding Edgenuity's Progress Report and Grading
Dear eLearning Families,
In previous years you have been able to check your student's in-progress grade(s) in Infinite Campus. This year, students in-progress grades will be checked in Edgenuity. The only grade that will be posted in Infinite Campus will be students' final semester grades. The Edgenuity progress report is your best resource for information regarding how your student is progressing and performing in their Edgenuity course.
As you may have already noticed, you should now be receiving progress reports for your students Edgenuity progress each week! If you are not receiving these progress reports, please let us know by emailing Mr. Rode. Additionally, if you would prefer to receive those daily, let us know that as well.
As you begin to look at progress reports and student grades within the Edgenuity system, it is important that teachers, parents, and students understand how grades and progress are defined. Please review the information below. We understand that this can be confusing, you can click here to see a video that explains the Edgenuity progress reports. If you have any additional questions or concerns about Edgenuity progress reports and grading, please contact the eLearning Dean of Students Thomas Rode at thomas_rode@engschools.net or 720-679-1782.
